RE: Online Safety Act
(31 Dec 2024, 11:01 am)Adrian wrote RTG have a massive userbase compared to us, and unless it's changed, have in some forums allowed more questionable content. They've mentioned this before, when their advertisers have taken issue with some content.

There's no doubt we'll have to change some things around, but I can't see why it'd lead to the forum closing down.

I believe the issues with RTG is there's some users on there who are politely arseholes and they fear that they'll go on a vendetta just to cause trouble and they don't have the resources to deal with it if they're strict with actually enforcing the act. It's Ofcom though so that won't be happening.

It's all on the moderating sense where they're problems are as it all has to be done quickly - it's very vague though what that is and there has to be appeals systems and all sorts of nonsense which with a board that size obviously comes with problems.

Not to mention their moderating is currently a bit lax let's say which caused the advertising problems, believe it was some muppets spreading their conspiracy theories that triggered that.
