Do something like
61: Every 10 Minutes, Chapel House to Four Lane Ends via Fenham, stopping at all stops.
62: Every 20 Minutes, West Walbottle to Killingworth only, current route but limited stop between the A1 and Four Lane Ends to speed the longer journeys up
63: Every 20 Minutes, Current route, similar limited stops as above. Go direct via Motorway rather than via Fenham
X63: Peak Time Only
71: Extended back to Throckley
72: Back to doing the loop rather than Chapel House
Limited stops being something like:
St James' Retail Park - Stamfordham Way - Cowgate - BBC TV Centre - St James - All Stops - Northumbria Business School - Shields Road (All Stops) - Simonside Terrace - High Heaton (Sainsbury's) - Manor Place
Even better if you could find a way for the 61 to completely replace the 71/72/87, as they're struggling a bit, but the Outer West is way out my area so I'd be blagging as an understatement, there's no doubt a way to do it though.
The way I’d do it is as follows::
61: Chapel House - Hillhead - Westerhope - Fenham - City Centre - Shields Road - Heaton - Four Lane Ends
Replacing 72
(Every 20 minutes )
62 as now (every 20)
63 as now except via Cowgate ( every 20)
64 : Newbiggin Hall - Westerhope - Fenham - City Centre - Shields Road - Four Lane Ends
Replacing 87 and every 20 minutes
This way you’ve increased the core of 62/63 in frequency and ammended the 72/87 to hopefully improve performance. You’ve also got further options by making the 62/63 direct from Killingworth - Four Lane Ends and allowing 61/64 to cover those parts as was the case in mid 90s 61 went to Longbenton 64 to Forest Hall
