I've only been on it a couple of times but if I remember rightly the 16 and 16A are quite demanding routes with lots of hills and fast speeds, and loads of the Consett routes are, so maybe those ex London vehicles not great for that. I have not been on any of the 61 plate ones but the 60 plate ones are really dodgy.
Checking tracking, usual caveats etc. It's not the E400's which are the problem. It's the ex X10 B9's which are the issue. All 6 are off frontline work today. Why on earth they're at Consett is a mystery to me instead of being on easier routes like the 34 or what not.
Is it really a surprise they're struggling though tbh? The same as the B5TL's which are just as bad at Deptford. Usually you'd retire vehicles like these to easy routes, not difficult routes, with hills or fast dual carriageway sections.
There's 3/13 vehicles between them in frontline service today, which says something and it's not unusual either.
