(06 Aug 2025, 10:52 pm)S830OFT wrote I believe during 2008/09 they had the 10/11 between South Shields and Low Simonside & the 13/14 between South Shields and Jarrow, with the 18A extending from Brockley Whins to Jarrow on an evening. No idea on exact routes, but the route seemed to have changed to the 10/11 in June 2010.Yeah would of been 2010, thats when the 13/14 was withdrawn in its entirety, I remember doing a delivery in South Shields for the Cash and Carry I worked, that was October 2009, and en-route back to the Tunnel I saw one of the 04 reg Darts on the 14 back to Jarrow, but then when I came back from my brief spell in Northampton, I decided to skive from College one day (roughly a year after I saw the 14 that time) I wanted to ride the 13/14, but it had gone, I think in parts it was replaced by the 5/88/88A (GNE) and the 10/11 (Stagecoach), seems like all the bus companies were making duff decisions that year, Arriva pretty much nuked their network, I believe it might of been roughly the same time GNE decided to withdraw the 87 and 89
Edit - Seemed the 18A was a short lived service by Nexus due to the 26 (88/88A) only operating daytime only at one point. Also seemed the 30/X20 were previously contracted by Nexus on an evening, as there are pictures of Citaros on the X20 leaving South Shields for Fellgate & Darts on the 30.
The allocation seemed to have changed quickly as after the Dash Darts up until 2009, went to ALX200s, Pointer 2 Darts, MAN E200s & to the E200s in late 2011, which remain to this day. Although that is likely down to Nexus setting an emission standard between Jarrow & Low Simonside, which was originally for Euro 4 upwards, then changed to Euro 5, which overnight banned the MAN's from being used.
Despite the route being such a long run, it's obvious it's not designed for people going from end to end, but rather connecting all the places in-between...
