In an ideal world, you'd have a very frequent bus service from the Regent Centre to Great Park and people would change on the Metro imo. There's no need for buses from everywhere to Newcastle.
Unless you want to be in the Haymarket area, it would be quicker or neglible in time difference, at best, since you can get further into the city at Monument / Central
Most of the match day going folk I know get the X47 to Kingston and switch to the Metro - far far quicker. As well as Kingston Park, the X47 gets stuck on Cowgate and the Central Motorway (plus that awful new roundabout at the RVI)
