Yeah, it's pretty much the same tech, but awfully project managed.
Pop Blue cards are Pay and Go cards though. Season tickets can't/won't be loaded on to them, and they'd instead need to be a different card. It shouldn't be that much of a change for anyone in Tyne and Wear, as there's always been a requirement for ID at 16 and under for the CAT fares.
