Aye I get that about infrastructure, it's just Sunderland that makes me question it - like have they have really ever had any plan to get rid of the gas buses? It just seems like a mad scramble to find stuff to get rid of them including electrics which should've never been anywhere near it.
Obviously not the end of the world, if it works out, of course.
Reminds me of the Pacer withdrawal with Northern where they never really had a plan there either; obviously that one has ended up with cancellations and short form trains ever since, arguably no different to an E200 on the 62/63 at peak times mind.
