I only saw that photo for the first time, fairly recently.
I cannot remember it coming through Low Fell, but clearly it did.
It also looks to have missed out Gateshead Interchange and come straight over the flyover too.
I wonder if the re-alignment of the A1 at Eighton Banks around the time of the Metrocentre opening played a part in the switch to the A19 or if there was another reason.
