Didn't think they did badly in the scheme of things? 4 buses an hour during the core part of the day on the main corridors with the 1&2 wandering around the hamlets. In this economic climate what more can be done? I could naively suggest timetables are changed so that two principle services don't piggy back each other and offer a 15 minute frequency but thats about it. People need to realise that these services are provided on a commercial basis and like other business its a question of both using it and making services viable.
Yes, I've seen a few threads on Facebook about it but a lot of people posting there - even councillors and the local MP - aren't clear about what they are asking for, except I think a bus between Saltburn and Guisborough, and the 1 & 2 to serve more of Brotton.
Then all the randoms wanting a bus from their street to James Cook hospital, Teesside Park, Whitby, Stockton.. you name it.
The Saltburn to Guisborough bus has been wanted by some ever since it stopped running before, because of a lack of use. The 1 & 2 link to Skelton Asda is a fair shout, but I don't know how that would fit into a timetable with a PVR of 2, and of course the track record of other villages asking for a bus and then not really using it is evident pretty much every time.
Someone will know more than me, but could the councils not just increase (or scrap) the 30p token fare for ENCTS passes before 9:30, and say the money earned/saved will be put towards subsidised services in local areas? The 30p fare has been that level for many years, surely it has to go up at some point - most other councils around the country don't offer this do they?
