(5 hours ago)Adrian wrote Needed to travel into Newcastle yesterday, so used the bus and Metro. Out of the 3 GNE buses I used (Washington depot), none of them had a working next stop announcement system. The new Metro, on the other hand, was absolutely fine.
Given this is a legal requirement for vehicles first used during the 2010s now, I'd have thought we'd have seen less examples of this. When I looked back through my notes, 5361 had the same screen fault that I saw back in November. I wonder how many people have driven this bus and failed to note and report it.
Have I been incredibly unlucky, or is this still a common issue?
Its seems non of the main big 3 or even any of the independents have cared about the next stop
GCT have nsa fitted on 3 of the new 26 plates. Non work and non seen on the rest of the fleet
Arriva Northumbria to my knowledge added NSA to 1 bus that being 7556 and it works when ive seen it. Not been on it to know if the audio works. A few Durham buses ive seen have had nsa added with the 16 plate MMC & a few Pulsars
Stagecoach have nsa working on a few buses but they have a mix of voices in the way that the buses with nsa already on use the old voice where as the ones with it recently added use the new voice
Go North East have the odd few nsa work on occasion. Noticed with the recent service changes. The 342 has no nsa round the Airport at all and will announce the stop it serves on a evening & Sunday. 333 nsa seems to work only if the driver sets the Tynemouth dest when leaving the Ferry
Jh have nsa added to the two E400MMC unsure what the audio voice they use but the system seems to work nice
Northstar I've not seen any buses with NSA though im sure a post claimed when 302 was done it had NSA which it doesn't
Stanley Travel not sure but there fleet might not be available for use of them yet or whatever the requirements are
Liberty well I cant seem them adding it to there fleet since they own 2 buses that are a 22 reg & 24 reg. Everything else is old which probably doesn't reach the requirements or whatever
The metro nsa is for me perfect though you can tell a lot more its audio spliced together where as the old fleet it was not as noticeable. Though ive been told that the new nsa they seem to be using the wrong files on some of them with them using the station nsa if its in the station not approaching (if that makes sense). A few things have changed with nsa on the Metros. Most noticeable being Northumberland Park now has the Local Rail part added. Central Station nsa was updated to include Central Station instead of just Central. West Jesmond & Benton have had theres updated. Unsure what was wrong with it in the first place. The South Shields for a few weeks mentioned you could change for the Ferry as well though it seems to have been taken out
