All other services that come down Old Durham Road are turning left at Shipcote Road/Shipcote Terrace then right onto Durham Road in order to avoid the roundabout.
It does make you wonder though could Gateshead Council of made a temporary road layout maintaining the connection between Sunderland Road and Durham Road as I did think they doing that last week when I passed on the bus as they were taking out the triangular island at the bottom of Old Durham Road.
I'm not sure 100% whether it would impact works much (you'd need some form of crossing point though) but imo if going down that route it would've been better to get the bus gate back open with a temporary surface, even if it was bus only and single carriageway.
It's totally clear the flyover from that area. Would help massively with both closures - especially Park Lane.
