When the X94 was introduced some years ago, it was a success (albeit only a variation of the X93), but it does show its worth giving something new a try.
Coastliner did used to run a few journeys per day from Malton to Filey & Bridlington (not serving Scarborough) as service 845 up until a few year back.
East Yorkshire also had service 45 from York to Bridlington a few year back but via Pocklington & Driffield.
