Why didn't GNE do something as simple as this?

- X32 via Shield Row and interworking with X73 only (no low bridges - PVR 4)

- X31 2bph and interworking with X70/X71 (PVR 8)

- X30 evenings & Sundays only

Literally no major change other than East Stanley losing the Gateshead link, with Catchgate & Annfield Plain benefiting from the restored Gateshead link. And all the X31/X70/X71 reliefs could be done in Consett.

GNE are clearly having issues with the X10 and three extra Enviros at Riverside (alongside 6352-55) would resolve these instead of gutless 4 pot StreetDecks or ex London/GAG B9TLs which should be nowhere near the A19.
