Be careful with mentioning the Ex London stuff on the X10. It might summon someone who wants Consett to give up some of their stuff for the Route
I do think its time for the X10 to get something new that can actually last a good while on the route.
I did see a comment somewhere that Transdev Coastliner might possibly be getting the B8Ls for the 840/843. Seems it could be the better bus on the market for this long distance, fuel consuming routes
