The thing is they're really not these days. Bar a very small amount of B9TL's down South, the DB300's at Blyth are the oldest vehicles across the whole Arriva fleet nowadays and the 14 Plate E400's are near the bottom of the list as Arriva made a huge order of Deckers in 2015.
Btw I never mentioned new buses, with a sensible head on here personally I wish we got the 61 Plate DB300's which have just been sold in Liverpool instead. They'd be a perfect stopgap for the next 12 months when 140+ E400's 64/15 Plate E400's which most have had an easy life, 30x Streetdecks and 8x E400MMC's are released from Liverpool which can replace them.
The B9TL's and the most knackered E400's can be sold now for whoever wants them since they're shot to bits. There's no way Arriva need 180+ deckers across the regions so some newer deckers are going somewhere.
