Disruption to services on Sunday 28 April 2013 due to Marathon of the North
Customers are advised that due to the running of the “Marathon of the North” and the “Sunderland 10k” run (and the numerous associated road closures throughout Sunderland) all Stagecoach bus services in the Sunderland area will be revised until mid-afternoon on Sunday 28 April 2013.
Details of these temporary revisions are detailed below:
Service 3: From first bus until approx 1500, will operate normal route as far as Southwick, then via Southwick Road as far east as Queens Road Link Road, then non-stop via Queens Road, Queen Alexandra Bridge, Pallion New Road, Trimdon Street, Silksworth Row, Livingston Road, High Street West (southbound buses observing bus stop outside Londonderry Hotel, northbound observing bus stop opposite Londonderry Hotel), then non-stop via St. Michaels Way, Chester Road, The Royalty, Western Hill, Chester Road, The Broadway, Springwell Road, to resume normal routes at Prospect Hotel junction. From first bus until approx 1500, Service 3 will not be able to serve the normal bus stops on Southwick Road to the east of Queen’s Road, at Wheatsheaf, John Street/ Fawcett Street, Holmeside/ Vine Place, New Durham Road or Durham Road to the east of the Prospect Hotel junction in either direction.
Between approx 1500 – 1715, Service 3 will operate normal route as far as Southwick, then via Southwick Road as far as Queens Road Link Road, then non-stop via Queens Road, Queen Alexandra Bridge, Pallion New Road, Trimdon Street, Silksworth Row, Livingston Road, St.Marys Way, Bedford Street, to resume normal routes at John Street/ Fawcett Street. Between 1500 – 1715, Service 3 will not be able to serve the normal bus stops on Southwick Road to the east of Queen’s Road or at Wheatsheaf.
Service 3 should be able to resume normal service commencing with the 1655 from Hylton Castle and 1657 from Farringdon.
Service 4: From approx 0800 until approx 1500, will operate normal route as far as Southwick, then via Southwick Road as far east as Queens Road Link Road, then non-stop via Queens Road, Queen Alexandra Bridge, Pallion New Road, Trimdon Street, Silksworth Row, Livingston Road, High Street West (southbound buses observing bus stop outside Londonderry Hotel, northbound observing bus stop opposite Londonderry Hotel), then non-stop via St. Michaels Way, Chester Road, The Royalty, Western Hill, Chester Road, The Broadway, Springwell Road, to resume normal routes at Prospect Hotel junction. From first bus until approx 1500, Service 4 will not be able to serve the normal bus stops on Southwick Road to the east of Queen’s Road, at Wheatsheaf, John Street/ Fawcett Street, Holmeside/ Vine Place, New Durham Road or Durham Road to the east of the Prospect Hotel junction in either direction.

Between 1500 – 1715, Service 4 will not be able to serve the normal bus stops on Southwick Road to the east of Queen’s Road or at Wheatsheaf.
Service 4 should be able to resume normal service commencing with the 1651 from Downhill and 1648 from Doxford Park.
Service 5A: From first bus until approx 1500, will not be able to serve the Docks. Until then, buses will run from Gilley Law via normal route as far as St.Michaels Way, then via Albion Place to Green Terrace, at which point they will terminate. Buses towards Gilley Law will commence from Green Terrace. During affected times, buses will not be able to serve Holmeside, Vine Place, John Street, Fawcett Street, Athenaeum Street, or the Docks area.
Service 5A should be able to resume normal service commencing with the 1433 trip from Gilley Law, and 1500 from Docks.
Service 10/11: From first bus until approx 1500, will not be able to serve the Hendon, Grangetown or Hill View. Until then, buses will operate from Quarry View via normal route as far as St.Michaels Way, then via Albion Place to Green Terrace, at which point they will terminate. Buses towards Quarry View will commence from Green Terrace. During affected times, buses will not be able to serve Holmeside, Vine Place, Fawcett Street, Athenaeum Street, Borough Road, or the Hendon, Grangetown or Hill View areas.
Service 10/11 should be able to resume normal service commencing with the 1449 and 1503 from Pennywell, and 1514, 1535 from Grangetown.
Service 13: From first bus until approx 1500, will operate normal route as far as Southwick, then via Southwick Road as far east as Queens Road Link Road, then non-stop via Queens Road, Queen Alexandra Bridge, Pallion New Road, Trimdon Street, Silksworth Row, Livingston Road, High Street West (southbound buses observing bus stop outside Londonderry Hotel, northbound observing bus stop opposite Londonderry Hotel), then non-stop via St. Michaels Way, Chester Road, The Royalty, Western Hill, Chester Road, The Broadway, Springwell Road, Premier Road, to resume normal routes at Premier Road/ Silksworth Lane junction. From first bus until approx 1500, Service 13 will not be able to serve the normal bus stops on Southwick Road to the east of Queen’s Road, at Wheatsheaf, John Street/ Fawcett Street, Holmeside/ Vine Place, New Durham Road, Durham Road or Silksworth Lane north of Premier Road in either direction.
Between approx 1500 – 1715, Service 13 will operate normal route as far as Southwick, then via Southwick Road as far as Queens Road Link Road, then non-stop via Queens Road, Queen Alexandra Bridge, Pallion New Road, Trimdon Street, Silksworth Row, Livingston Road, St.Marys Way, Bedford Street, to resume normal routes at John Street/ Fawcett Street. Between 1500 – 1715, Service 13 will not be able to serve the normal bus stops on Southwick Road to the east of Queen’s Road or at Wheatsheaf.
Service 13 should be able to resume normal service commencing with the 1644 from Town End Farm and 1639 from Doxford Park.
Service 16: From approx 0800 until approx 1500, will operate normal route as far as Southwick, then via Southwick Road as far east as Queens Road Link Road, then non-stop via Queens Road, Queen Alexandra Bridge, Pallion New Road, Trimdon Street, Silksworth Row, Livingston Road, High Street West (southbound buses observing bus stop outside Londonderry Hotel, northbound observing bus stop opposite Londonderry Hotel), St. Michaels Way to resume normal route at Chester Road. From first bus until approx 1500, Service 16 will not serve the normal bus stops on Southwick Road to the east of Queen’s Road, at Wheatsheaf, John Street/ Fawcett Street, Holmeside/ Vine Place, or Green Terrace in either direction.
Between approx 1500 – 1715, Service 16 will operate normal route as far as Southwick, then via Southwick Road as far as Queens Road Link Road, then non-stop via Queens Road, Queen Alexandra Bridge, Pallion New Road, Trimdon Street, Silksworth Row, Livingston Road, St.Marys Way, Bedford Street, to resume normal routes at John Street/ Fawcett Street. Between 1500 – 1715, Service 16 will not be able to serve the normal bus stops on Southwick Road to the east of Queen’s Road or at Wheatsheaf.
Service 16 should be able to resume normal service commencing with the 1706 from Red House and 1652 from Hastings Hill.
Service 20: Buses will terminate outside Londonderry Hotel until approx 1500. Until 1500, Service 20 will not serve Vine Place, Fawcett Street or St.Mary’s Way.
Service 20 should be able to resume normal service commencing with the 1445 from Pennywell, 1506 from Fawcett Street.
Service 23: Will only run between Thorney Close and City Centre until approx 1700. Until 1700, buses will run from Thorney Close via normal route as far as Sunningdale Road, then non-stop via Springwell Road, The Broadway, Chester Road, St.Michaels Way, Albion Place to Green Terrace, at which point buses will terminate. Buses towards Thorney Close will commence from Green Terrace (observe bus stops on west side of Green Terrace). Until 1700, Service 23 will not be able to serve Holmeside, Vine Place, John Street, Fawcett Street, Athenaeum Street or the Dene Estate, Fulwell or Wheatsheaf areas.
Service 23 should be able to resume normal service commencing with the 1708 from Thorney Close, 1738 from Dene Estate.
Service E1: Buses will operate via normal route to Whitburn, then divert non-stop via Whitburn Front Street, Moor Lane, Sunderland Road, Shields Road, Newcastle Road, Thompson Road (observing bus stop on Thompson Road close to Fulwell Grange Hotel), then non-stop via Thompson Road, Southwick Sunderland Road, Stoney Lane, Queen Alexandra Bridge, Pallion New Road, Trimdon Street, Silksworth Row, St.Michaels Way, Albion Place, Old Stockton Road, Park Lane Interchange. During affected times, buses will not be able to serve St.Marys Way, Fawcett Street, or the South Bents, Seaburn, Roker or Wheatsheaf areas.
Service E1 should be able to resume normal service commencing with the 1644 from South Shields, and 1719 from Sunderland Interchange.
Service E2: Buses will operate via normal route to Whitburn, then divert non-stop via Whitburn Front Street, Moor Lane, Sunderland Road, Shields Road, Newcastle Road, Thompson Road (observing bus stop on Thompson Road close to Fulwell Grange Hotel), then non-stop via Thompson Road, Southwick Sunderland Road, Stoney Lane, Queen Alexandra Bridge, Pallion New Road, Trimdon Street, Silksworth Row, St.Michaels Way, Albion Place, Old Stockton Road, Park Lane Interchange. During affected times, buses will not be able to serve St.Marys Way, Fawcett Street, or the South Bents, Seaburn, Fulwell, Newcastle Road or Wheatsheaf areas.
Service E2 should be able to resume normal service commencing with the 1633 from South Shields, and 1727 from Sunderland Interchange.
Service E6: Buses will operate via normal route to Whitburn, then divert non-stop via Whitburn Sandy Chare, Front Street (west), Moor Lane, Sunderland Road, Shields Road, Newcastle Road, Thompson Road (observing bus stop on Thompson Road close to Fulwell Grange Hotel), then non-stop via Thompson Road, Southwick Sunderland Road, Stoney Lane, Queen Alexandra Bridge, Pallion New Road, Trimdon Street, Silksworth Row, St.Michaels Way, Albion Place, Old Stockton Road, Park Lane Interchange. During affected times, buses will not be able to serve St.Marys Way, Fawcett Street, or the South Bents, Seaburn, Fulwell or Wheatsheaf areas.
Service E6 should be able to resume normal service commencing with the 1654 from South Shields, and 1708 from Sunderland Interchange.
