On a different note I was think about how extending 71 to Seaham would be good for the service on the same frequency as now and this would then get rid of the 238. I think it would provide a sustainable future for the 71, maintaining the connection between Houghton & Chester, providing new connections from Seaham to Chester. Any thoughts?
Go Ahead Northern used to run the 735 Newcastle-Chester le Street-Houghton-Seaham, but then cancelled the Houghton to Seaham section due to low patronage, which in turn the council started the 148 Houghton to Seaham and later became 203 and then 238. Dont know why there cant just get rid of the 71 and extend the 238 down to Chester-le-Street hourly then extend the 923 journeys to Houghton Church then same route as 238 to Chester-Le-Street as the 923 journeys or peak time only due to Npower works.
