I also uploaded a demo document, now after gathering alot of Information to which I thank those who helped, I now have an updated document for you guys to look at. Any Feedback/Tweaks or any other Ideas I could add would be appreciated.
I like the idea of a preservation trust but I don't see GNE going for it. With Lothian being in public hands its remit is far different from that of GNE; added to the fact it makes a lot more money than GNE does as a unit.
I further think GNE would find it difficult to justify a £5,000 spend to please a few enthusiasts, as harsh as that sounds, and I don't think the public would react well. The DAF's, Solo's and Metrobuses are not the iconic buses that people will relate to outside of the enthusiast community. They aren't a routemaster, they have little endearing public quality. They aren't 'classic'
I just feel GNE won't be invested in this, they are a forward thinking company obsessed with branding and image, going back with repaints etc isn't going to happen
I think an approach of continued sponsoring of 'classic' vehicles at Beamish is more likely to be there preferred preservation method.
I don't mean to be dismissive as its a lovely idea but thats it
