It's always good to bring something controversial up in a lesson where the teachers can't help but to get involved. Great way to pass a lesson, if nobody is arsed about working.
We brought this up in Maths though, and everyone had different views. A lot of people questioned, if these victims of the indecent assault can come forward now after someone else has, why didn't they do it before? Surely any evidence would have been clearer back then, and I'd assume that it would have been kept under wraps a lot more than it would with today's level of media. One girl pointed out that she'd prefer the perpetrator of the abuse to be named and shamed, but another said it would drag her name through the media too, so she wasn't keen on the idea of doing it.
By and large, the teacher was very much in favour of all the victims coming forward to get these people off the streets (he put it a lot differently, as he was rather wound up about it).
Mind, didn't beat the time we got him onto his views about Margaret Thatcher. He was full on shouting about her - saying we were too young to be able to tell him that he shouldn't disrespect her, whatever she had done in the past.
