This obviously started to take effect hence why they started putting bids in for Scholars services and in most cases have been successful.
We have been running 7 service buses for a few years now, the latest contacts takes us up to 12 vehicles from Setember.
The services were never really withdrawn, Go Ahead purchased the Stanley Buses brand as it needed substantial investment to continue its development and At that time it was felt it would be better to develop the fledgling private hire and tour areas of the business.
We went back into service work after 3 years on a fully subsided basis as was always the plan. We inherited the 806/807 (now 706/707/708) from Hunters who could no longer operate it.
This latest shot at tenders was to replace r6 and r7's work that was ending today, we were just slightly more successful than we expected. .... Trust me it took a lot of discussion and calculations on if we should take all 7 workings we were offered, but in the end we went for it over the park and ride contact for DCC, which would have required a much larger investment in vehicles.
