If they know a service is going to be late they will send another vehicle to cover it from the terminus. e.g. 36 is late arriving at the Marina but the dupe is already there to run the next part of the running board for it. The late bus arrives and then blanks off to catch up and either transfers passengers or depending on the length of service let the dupe run the whole journey. That way there is no lost mileage, that's why you will of seen the bus come from a different way. If you go to the Parkway there has been a stream of dupes covering the 12/39 that are failing drastically ( i did foresee that as did most of the drivers )
