Me being a bit of a stranger around that area south of Durham, I would have gotten off sooner in maybe Newton Aycliffe but I just stayed on to Darlington. Was pretty messed up inside too, beer cans everywhere, didn't seem clean at all. Bus was 1522 if I recall, think it's at Belmont?
An express service for the short distance between Durham and Darlington (short when compared to the total journey time!) is needed.

I like the tour around Newton Aycliffe but that is only because if it didn't go right round I'd have to change to the 5/5A or walk from the town centre.
The 7 does take an age to get anywhere. Back when it was the 723 years ago instead of going though Woodham and other parts of Aycliffe it used to go down the A167 between Rhyshyford and Central Avenue to reach the town centre.
The 7 is busiest is between Darlington Town Centre and Harrowgate Hill especially in that direction and is also rammed around college times into Darlington and Durham which is why one of the morning Framwellgate Moor journeys has to be duplicated.
