Also I'm not sure but I think it would be tricky getting preserved vehicles to operate a normal passenger service as it would need ticket machines for a start.
When I have been on a heritage vehicle, there is often a conductor who flits about taking fares and issuing a novelty ticket (like the ones issued at the time).
Technically, as it stands, they could stick an Olympian on (if it fits under the Beamish Arch).
