I can only assume that to serve the War Memorial on both sides it turns up Birtley Lane and uses that bit of road at the bottom of Fell Bank where the Queens Head is to turn back round. Could well be wrong, though.
On the Transport Direct website, it says services terminate at Birtley Library. I think it turns left at the end of Station Road and terminates on Durham Road. It then goes left on to Ravensworth Road and back on to Station Road towards Chester-le-Street?
