It was. There were quite a few 'cross-tyne' services before the Metro was built.
You should get that blog going again.
Used to read it (before I knew it was yours) and have had a look since.
You never know - I may do. The main reason I stopped posting before was because it got in the way of my uni-work. I also ran out of ideas of which timetables and services to include. However if someone made a suggestion or submitted a request for a timetable; I might oblige.
