Why can't Sunderland and Slatyford take 74 reg instead of new 25 reg for stockton depot they have two all ready.

They were bought for the 30/31/36 so will be a very long time. Plus only drivers that do those routes have been trained on them, everyone else isn’t getting shown them yet.

Does it matter?, same bus, only difference is the number plate

Not really but the 25 reg no 73175,6 we're bought for stockton depot that all I say. They should had 74 reg yutongs not 25 reg.

73176 never entered service at Stockton, it was delivered and immediately taken to Newcastle.

73175 has been transferred to Sunderland due to 80000 staying in the fleet for the foreseeable future - even with the PVR increase on Monday it means Stockton should still have 5 spare buses - with much less daily defects that shouldn’t be much of an issue but should see daily double deck use

So for Slatyford based drivers, before the electric buses, did any driver drive any bus, whether single deck or double deck, and any route or not specific routes?

For the 685 which is a longer route and thus takes a longer time route learning, do all drivers drive the 685, or just volunteers, or a small pool, or do some request not outside Newcastle?

As the 685 is a 5 hour roundtrip,do drivers what routes do drivers work on to make up a full shift?

Can’t imagine this bus being back out. walkergate will probably have to take a bus from another depot to cover it

Why would they bin off a 23 reg, theres been worse ones than that, 19**** E400 was deroofed, that was repaired

Isn't it the case. though, that the top deck is not structural and can therefore be replaced with minimal effort?  Whereas a vehicle taking that much damage to the whole front will certainly have a damaged chassis as well.

There could be something hidden but can't see there being that much damage there.

It's nothing to do with Stagecoach and whether the insurer wants to pay out, if it costs more to fix than the value which is, at least, £180k looking around, then they'll be fixing it. Be surprised if there's £180k worth of damage there.

It's very different to the Arriva Pulsar in Stockton recently which is worth probably about £10k max so not worth it.

So to answer your questions from a driver at Slatyford for the past 4 years.

Everyone drove everything however deckers can’t go on routes such as 6/7 and 32/32A. But every route has their own rota so you tend to drive the same buses all the time. 32/32A for example has the smaller E200’s 364** and 373**’s as they need them for the tight estates. 

685 is made up of 5 duties with a rota of 9 lines. Only certain drivers do them (drivers on the rota and some spare drivers to cover people on holiday etc). 

Most duties for the 685 you’ll find will pick up at Denton burn go to Carlisle back to Denton burn and get off for break or end of shift. One or two of them go to Eldon square and then get off after that. There are 2 late shifts that start at either 16:30 or 17:30 go to Carlisle get their break up there (40 minutes) even if they’re late they still have to have that break then go back to Newcastle and finished.

every depot is meant to have a certain percentage of spare vehicles,  i would be very surprised is walkergate needs a long term loan to cover this vehicle, we might not see walkergate loaning out as many vehicles after this though until its back

1, 32 & 32A still diverting away from there even though the road is now open. Anyone know why? Wonder how long they’ll be on diversion for.

Thank you for that, looks similarish the damage really.

Both look less than the 08 Plate which crashed into a gym in Manchester aswell (forgot the fleet number) and that got fixed aswell.

Well it seems Hartlepool doesn’t as right now an Electric from Stockton on 6/7s and on day one of the new 51 service they have had to put a Teesflex mini bus back out to do the service.  I can definitely see some loans needing to happen for Hartlepool.

I could see some of Slatyford’s 364**’s heading there soon, chargers are progressing quite well they’re up but haven’t been connected to the grid yet. Once they are and Slatyford get more Yutongs in some of them will probably head to Hartlepool.
