Or it’s the rear bonnet from 5360 on a scrap 08 plate Citaro!

So does anybody know if 678/679 are permanently transferred to GNW or just out on loan?.

Never mind, only there for route learning

They’ll be back for the July contract changes.

Need new vehicles to replace them. Not sure if the new electric vehicles have even been ordered yet, even then, there really needs to be a new single deck order to replace them, I'm not sure if GNE are willing to put their hands in their pockets yet for new buses.

GNE needs to place a similar order to that of 2011-2013

Replace the 10's, 56's, 309-310, 60, 20, all the versas (although the 60's could go onto the 35, with the princebishops being used on south tyneside which never has the fleet it should have on. 16/16A/X5/X15 needs something, 4 need something (hopefully eCitaro), 63 plate versas need to be replaced.

Lets not forget the Red Kite Rangers, and all the RIders, but I suppose it speaks when GNE are getting a lot of 07-60 plate deckers as to keep them going

Not reckon there could be another round of service cuts and frequency reductions?

It means they can ontinue with fleet reduction and not replace X life expired vehicles with the same number of new/newer vehicles.

I wouldn't put it past them, but it would take another massive reduction to get rid of all the Versas and Citaros left mind.

I reckon they will squeeze a few more years out of the Versa's and replace them with some 'not quite so old' acquired vehicles.
Citaro's should hang on for a while yet, unless Manchester need them.

Go North East seem to be more focused on re-building the network, with contract awards and services returning to pre-cut frequencies, at the moment. If anything it means that the life of some of these older vehicles may be elongated.

The other operators making cuts currently haven’t made any drastic reductions to their network over the past year or two, unlike Go North East.

I believe they are replacing the B5TL's on the X21.

Perhaps two could stay in Xlines X21 Colours, 4 go to Orange for the X5/X15 and 1 goes into Charcoal at Consett.

Therefore 4 hybrids are cleared up for spares which they need as there has been 50% of the X5/X15 Hybrids missing for ages

Although I doubt they'd ever release the info, I do wonder how the newer Streetdecks compare to the B5s on the X21 in terms of fuel economy.

Being limited to 4 speed gearbox on motorway and quick A roads must really harm the Streetdecks economy compared to the 6 speed of the B5s. Unless the Mercedes engine is considerably more efficient than the Volvo unit?

For the Yellow I wish. The B5LH's are utter crap. Would like my streetdecks back.

Am I unusual in that I actually like the hybrids?
I like to play a little game with myself trying to guess when the diesel engine is going to kick in

I like them too, i would take them over some streetdecks 67 Plate one anyday. I love starting electric the smoothness and the silence

But they are just so unreliable

GNE should have never gotten rid of the 4 Red Kite Deckers!

That's when the Hybrid phase actually happens.
Rare moment that it does
RE: GNE Questions about fleet withdrawals/buses VOR/fleet questions
The Hybrids are awful, they feel like they lose power for a second when they change across to the stage they don't do anything. Absolutely horrid when they used to do it on the Coast Road not to mention they have a messy layout at the back downstairs.

They were awful especially when the 308 was a PVR of 9x and a 2hr15m round trip. Bet there were some excited Blyth drivers when a DB300 pulled in ready to takeover for the next trip!

worse layout has to be those single decker mercs.  who put a luggage rack at the back of a bus for gods sake???!!!

Aye the timetable was stupid then though mind.

Aye give you that the mercs are bad mind, especially the ones with the two seats at different heights.

I totally forgot about the disabled bay being being the front row of seats aswell on the Hybrids. The whole layout is illogical, I feel sorry for pensioners who struggle to walk who use them as there's only 6 seats on the low floor section from what I can remember, the rest being up steps. The 4 bay on the right at the back is particularly hairy going around bends as it's hard to balance and there's no grab rail / seat to hold onto. Hated them personally and were glad they went from up here.

Best part of the hybrids are the 2 seats at the bottom of the stairs.

You get to be a nosy bugger and find out where everyone is going, and you don't have to sit near anyone else!

Ha, see I used to hate them, felt like you were just in the middle of everyone. Reminds me of the most pointless seat behind the driver on 7501 - 7513 at Arriva, never really did get the point in that. Did anyone else actually order one of them, I can't think of any other examples about. Gimmick at it's finest.

Think some London examples got them, didn't seem to last long especially once low height examples started becoming more wide spread within Arriva & Stagecoach.
