Leven Valley's ex Lothian Dart 191 is now in the process of being repainted into their new corporate colour scheme too.

Currently being used by Leven Valley is manual Vario S592RGA, it is on service 507 today!

Notice the application of fleetnumbers on this example (although it appears to lack front fleetnames).

The original front decal did not fit 191. A better sized decal is being made. It is vital since we lost our beloved 'yellowness' to have the Leven clear for our customers. 178 is going into paint next week and will be 178 rather than Lothians last minute change to 48.

Further to my email yesterday with regards to Leven Valley’s Thunderbird One (W794VMV), Paul Thompson has now confirmed it is to be renamed Avalon when it comes out of the Paint Shop.

It was observed late last week (Thursday or Friday) leaning over quite badly & upon inspection it was discovered one of the springs had gone on the Suspension, this has been repaired, but it was decided while off the road to get it in for repaint.

I understand it is hoped the repaint will be completed by about Wednesday next week, but I am not sure how quickly it will return to service after that though, as I don’t know if perhaps its PSV/MOT is about due. ?
Or just due for its regular service.

It did re-enter service mid morning after a fault with its indicators was resolved, replacing YM52TOU on the 1110 45

Richard Smiles has circulated information regarding recent and upcoming Leven Valley changes. These are outlined below:

1. Providing there are no major vehicle shortages ex Lothian Dart 178 (Y178CFS) has again been “Pencilled In“ to go in for repaint this coming week. It may be the last repaint for a little while, given forthcoming cuts to services at the end of March grow ever closer. In addition 178 is the last vehicle that was NOT really in any form of Leven Livery, the others 73, 94 & 191 having now been painted into the New scheme.

2. It has recently materialised that Leven’s final two surviving Enviro 200s (25 & 91), which were initially leased by Leven when first acquired, have now been purchased outright by Leven’s Partner Kevin Procter, so will therefore be remaining with the Leven Valley Fleet for the foreseeable future. In addition, it has been suggested that these two vehicles are likely to be repainted into Leven’s New Overall White Livery during this Summer (2014).

3. It is understood that the Dales & District Arm of Procter’s have lost around 7 buses worth of work, as a consequence of forthcoming Cuts to North Yorkshire County Council Services. As a result of this, it is believed that the two/three Optare Solo’s currently being used within the Leven Operations (YM52TOU) & (T14CRT) plus ? are likely to be exchanged for Dennis Dart MPDs.

At present, YM52TOU is the regular Solo appearing on Leven Valley work - T14CRT has mainly been used on Compass Royston work. The other 3 Solos with the merger company (W87NDW, MW52PYX and GX55LNF) have only been used on Compass Royston work. I would say, MW52PYX would be the most likely to move to Dales & District as it moved to Compass Royston from that operation. There's also Esk Valley to add into the equation as they are also looking like losing the majority of their service work (at present, they'll be left with one bus worth of work in Scarborough on the 115, so will free up 2/3s of their fleet)

Let's not forget Leven/Compass are losing 4 vehicles and Esk Valley look set to lose at least one vehicle worth of work... Ultimately this will see a few transfers around the group and the oldest vehicles being sold.

BIB: since posting this on Sunday, it was confirmed yesterday that Esk Valley have now lost all their local service work (the 115 has been regained by EYMS' Scarborough & District operation) which frees up their 2 MPDs and a Solo for transfer - I would be as bold to suggest those 2 MPDs (VU02TPX and SN06BRV) will likely end up with Leven Valley and the Solo joins the main Dales & District fleet.

Good to hear! Hopefully this will see the end of them using Vario S592RGA? I had that again this morning on the 505/506!
Solo YM52TOU was on the 588/589 for Compass though with a Leven blind still in it, it displayed no destination! I'm told W365ABD managed a trip on 588 yesterday, though I went to photo it on the return leg and it had been swapped for S295UAL!

Compass 555 never ran last hour at least Thursday. Was waiting round Albany for it!

178 back out today, supposed to work the 1140 18 after arriving off the 0940 trip, it instead ended up getting a longer break before going back out on the 1255 19.
