Not gonna lie, I prefer when we get the Angel buses on the X21, the seats are far more comfortable!

Yes they proper leather with foam topper. I'd imagine 2hrs from end to end might be a bit uncomfortable. You'll just have to make sure you only ride the 69 plate ones
(16 Jul 2019, 1:51 pm)JP6004 wroteI don't find the older style uncomfortable by any means, the other day I spent a good 6 hours sitting on them between the X21, X66, 47 and the 49! But that extra layer of foam really does make a difference. You just sink in, I find them more comfortable than the leather seats in our car! Plus, the car doesn't have a table, sockets and WiFi!

Hopefully with them moving the X21 to Chester and the removal of the X46, we'll get the X21 coming to Tindale (which is still spelled wrong!) later into the evening. Having the last direct bus leave Newcastle at 15:38 is a right pain in the arse.

Can maybe see some slight changes being made to the evening service as providing GNE keep the 86 I would imagine it will have to be tagged on to the end of the X21/21 workings.

Well pointless going all out on the timetable if a number of routes will be changing brands/ allocations in September...

M6 and M8 changes I hope patch up the split journeys from Lanchester to Metrocentre, needing to change at Stanley. That timetable can be considered confusing to older people.
X30, X31 and X32 I hope fills the gap in services on the Consett to Stanley stretch during the afternoon on the X30. I'd rather the X31 travelled through to Consett, restoring a direct link from Catchgate and Annfield Plain to Gateshead.
Even better would be to merge the first Newcastle-bound X32 with the short 6 from Flint Hill to Stanley. The 21st July changes ended the guaranteed connection at Stanley between the two, which quite a few people used.

The diversion has been announced and it's a big un, with ideal photo opportunities (if you're in to that sort of thing).
No mention of the potential delays to services, stopping arrangements on the diversion nor the shuttle bus operational hours at all mind.
Services 4, 78 and 78A at Bournmoor from 29 July until 27 September
Chester Road at Bournmoor will be closed westbound (towards Chester-le-Street) from Monday 29 July until Friday 27 September to allow for road reconstruction and utility works in conjunction with the new housing development at this location.
During this closure, Services 4, 78 & 78A will be unable to serve Bournmoor (4, 78 & 78A) or Fence Houses (4) in a southerly direction.
Service 4 will operate normal route to Shiney Row and Chester Road, then at the speed camera, will divert left to Golf Course Road, bearing right at Stott's Pastures to Blind Lane, then at The Beehive roundabout, turn right to Sedgeletch Road to Fence Houses, then left to Front Street and normal route. Customers for Bournmoor can alight and cross over to catch a 4 in the oppopsite direction. A shuttle bus will operate between Bournmoor and Fence Houses Community Centre during the day, extending to Chilton Moor during the evening.
Services 78 & 78A will operate normal route to Shiney Row and Chester Road, then will divert left to Golf Course Road, bearing right at Stott's Pastures to Blind Lane, then at The Beehive roundabout, turn right to Sedgeletch Road to Fence Houses, then right to Front Street and left to Lumley New Road and normal route. Customers for Bournmoor can alight at Fencehouses and catch a 4 towards Bournmoor, or catch the shuttle bus from Fencehouses Community Centre during the day. The shuttle bus will extend to Chilton Moor during the evening.
Services 4, 78 & 78A eastbound will operate normally at this time.
- Westbound services 4, 78 & 78A will not be able to serve Bournmoor or Fence Houses (4). Customers travelling from Bournmoor towards Chester-le-Street will be able to catch a shuttle bus to Fence Houses Community Centre and change to a diverted 8 there.
- Customers travelling to Fence Houses from Shiney Row or Washington will catch diverted service 4 to Fencehouses, then cross over at catch service 4 towards Bournmoor.
- Customers from Sunderland and Shiney Row for Bournmoor will catch diverted service 8 to Fence Houses Community Centre then catch shuttle bus to Bournmoor.
- Customers can buy their usual single or return from Bournmoor to Fence Houses or Houghton-le-Spring on the 4 when travelling towards Shiney Row.
GNE have published their changes, which will start with the opening of the new bus station.
As with SNE, they're operating an anti-clockwise loop from the bus station, passing asda and back out to the town hall.
Slight changes to timetables too.

Great, so they've cut some of the later services that go to Woodhouse. So I'll have to go back to using Arriva!
I mean, they were pointless services considering they terminated in the estate, and nobody ever used them, but why did they bother adding them in the first place for them to just be removed a few months later!
And I guess this basically confirms that the Castles Express Streetdecks will be getting a repaint pretty soon, and that one of the only good route brands will be disappearing
I do find it rather amusing that Go North East's definition of 'minor changes to a small number of services' includes completely removing a service (albeit one that runs twice in each direction a day), changing the route of the Sunday X21 and cutting short two of the evening X21 services.
I'd say some of those a pretty major changes, even if they don't affect that many people

Disappointing that they've kept the generic city skyline vinyls instead of a castles skyline

They haven't, if you zoom in closely and look past the low resolution image, it's still got the Castles! That's the first thing I looked for

Looks same to me lol, they still have tyne bridge on, instead of the 4 castles
Also X30/X31 still down as Toonlink

Id guess the X30/X31 are still Toonlink because the new buses won't be here in time for the new timetable, so I'd expect another timetable change soon.
The timetables seem to change more regularly than the buses actually turning up
Think the ADL be here before streetdecks. MG posted picture of them being built. But X21 streetdecks might be coming first from Wright

For the X30/X31 changes, the link above says that the weekday journey from Stanley at 4.50pm to Newcastle will no longer run, but the new timetable shows that it's actually the 17:00 X31 service which has been removed.
Wonder which one it is?
