Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - August 2013

RE: Go North East
It looks like the 53/54 timetable will only be uploaded once the Streetlites arrive.. as for the 60/61 i have no idea - seems pointless for having 1 leaflet for 2 different styles of buses.. should be separate

Does anyone know when the DFDS contract is up and if DFDS are remotely happy at the sheds occasionally operating the service?

(15 Aug 2013, 6:50 am)Daniel wrote Should have been on 37s also?

It was on the 37 today, but must of been replaced by the Nexus Solo unless it was on the journeys compass run at certain times. I went to Doxford Park at 15:30 to catch it, as I seen it at 10:30 at Washington

So, unless anyone else had any other 'Citylink' sightings yesterday, that was only 3 bendies off the 58 yesterday. Not bad! Tongue

(15 Aug 2013, 3:27 pm)Daniel wrote It seems there has been a swap in the allocations today, with Deptford offering a "Drifter" branded Versa on the 38, and a "Northern" branded SPD on the 60.

Both at Park Lane now.

Caught the Versa on the 38, think it may of replaced a Vyking which was on before I went back to my course at 1pm, I didn't back up to park lane till just after 3, so at some point there was a swap, 605 was on the sort 39's and I seen a Prince Bishops on the 35A when I was on the 37, Street Shuttle M1 which I caught at the Galleries and an Orbit Versa at Wrekenton on the 92 whilst on the X1 going to the Q.E. to see my Dad in Hospital before taking him back home after he was discharged

No it hasn't, thing is though it's black paint I think as it was programmed as it should be, fully across like the rest of the citaros, all I could see on it was "outh Sh" with the bit below running along as normal.

Unless GNE are going to do this to all of them, then just have the number in the centre at the rear.

Hmmm... seems a waste of a blind to do that though, because surely it's more expensive to purchase the significantly larger rear display. Maybe they're going to swap some blinds around?

I would put my money on, its had a window broken, someone has ordered the wrong glass and then fitted it anyway. No point in cutting it back out if you have no use for it, best to just wait until another driver puts a near-side mirror arm through it when pulling out from behind.

RE: Go North East
Does anyone know if drivers are required to take a specific route when going dead somewhere? 5274 passed me about 15 minutes ago out of service, presumably heading to Park Lane to pick up the 0532 9A service, but I have never seen that duty go down Chester Rd to get to Park Lane... Any ideas?

If you look at the two running boards available in the Bygone section, some basic route is specified when it runs empty. For example, the link below shows this that particular duty starts at Concord, and the route from Deptford states "Via A19, A1231, A195, Vermont". It doesn't say how the bus would get to the A19 but one possible (albeit lengthy compared to Queen Alexandria Bridge, A1231, A195, Vermont) route would be down Chester Road. Hope that helps.

"Following the end of service OK1 at Crook depot, Scania Solar's 5229-33 (NK55OLG/H/J/M/N) have become surplus, 5229 has been painted into Northern red. The rest are due to be painted into a pink livery for express services X84/X85 Newcastle-Hexham, due to start on 8th September."

PINK!, GNE most still have pink paint left from painting the Angels pink awhile ago.

RE: Go North East
Didn't expect GNE to update their fleet info again this week.

I hope their not going pink...

Should be silver like the TEN... any idea's on the brand name?

Hexham Express - is a good idea...

Paper copies of the new (1st September 2013 issue) timetables are starting to appear. I have just picked up one for the Lime from the display shelf in the GNE shop in Chester le Street.

Although I am surprised GNE have updated their fleet info so soon, the pink livery should not come as a surprise to anyone...

Didn't realise the pink colour was mentioned in a previous post.

RE: Go North East
Looks like there are issues with the X1.
Sitting on one currently heading towards Newcastle and between Galleries & the A194/A182 junction, there were 4 heading south.
Two in the Galleries together, one coming off the A182 and one just coming onto the A182 from Springwell...

The comment I made about the plum Solar - not sure if it had been repainted/re-laminated, or if the metal work had just been refreshed

Hopefully 5230 has gone red and not the rumored Pink...

I'm guessing SR 636 is unwell again...
