Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - July 2015

RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - July 2015
I signed up for the key as my Network one pass runs out the 17th July with me finishing uni, it won't get renewed..............

Will GNE automatically just send a keycard out for me?

Wasn't sure about this design when it appeared on the GNE website as an illustration but seeing it actually applied to the bus makes me think that this design is alright. Looking forward to seeing them on the streets in service soon.

Regarding NSA's - are the outward and return journeys recorded separately or do you run the outward recording in reverse for the return run?

At least it retains some element of the old plain but effective ''Quaylink'' livery.

I quite like it, but based on the drawings, I think I will prefer the purple one between the 2.

I thought the Omnideckers was doing that but clearly GNE wanted to get rid of the tridents first...

Yeah it's not great having these out in service, was late arriving in Stanley as someone had to fold up a pushchair. Another example about how the downsides of these being on normal passenger services came fairly recently I was in Consett and a number of passengers and GNE drivers had to help an elderly lady off the bus and into her wheelchair. As much as I like riding them they should only be used as a last resort, thankfully Diamond 5297 replaced it when it got to Stanley.

Was also probably late as randomly a driver changed occurred just outside Sunniside.

The company did state recently in an article that they wanted to withdraw all Olympians from Stanley (no mention of Riverside) by the end of the year so not long left for that Tongue

Providing i have done this right, 10 vehicles should get transferred/withdrawn as a result of the Omnidekkas entering service. I have done a mock-up of what i think has happened (might be completely wrong - don't trust me on it):

6122 --> 3885 to Scholars --> 3813 withdrawn
6123 --> 3886 to Scholars --> 3801 withdrawn
6124 --> 3887 to Scholars --> 3802 withdrawn
6125 --> 3888 to Scholars --> 3861 withdrawn
6126 --> 3889 to Scholars --> 3862 withdrawn
6127 --> 6010 to Percy Main
6128 --> 3823 withdrawn
6130 --> 3825 withdrawn
6131 --> 3871 withdrawn
6133 -->

As you can see, i cannot find anything that 6133 has replaced and withdrawn so one more vehicle is there to be withdrawn. I have a feeling it will be 3860 but we'll have to wait and see.

Stanley withdrew one fewer Volvo Olympian than they should have last September, when the Dennis Tridents migrated from Percy Main. This stayed on as an extra spare vehicle, presumably in an attempt to lessen the amount of high-floor vehicles being allocated to public services. As the Scania N94UD vehicles are more reliable than the Dennis Tridents they are replacing, Stanley should not require this extra vehicle any longer. As such, it (3813) has now been withdrawn.

The entry into service of the ten Scania N94UD vehicles has allowed for eleven cascades in addition to the above, given that these vehicles are newer and a lot more reliable.
1. Volvo B7TL 6010 to Percy Main, which will allow for the withdrawal of a further Dennis Trident
2. Volvo Olympian 3823 withdrawn.
3. Volvo Olympian 3825 withdrawn.
4. Dennis Trident 3801 withdrawn.
5. Dennis Trident 3802 withdrawn.
6. Dennis Trident 3803 withdrawn (this took place prior to the entry into service of the Scania N94s, owing to engine failure).
7. Dennis Trident 3861 withdrawn.
8. Dennis Trident 3862 withdrawn.
9. Dennis Trident 3871 withdrawn.
10. ?
11. ?

As 6133 has not yet entered service, and the Scania N94 vehicles are all undergoing PSV at the moment, the final two movements are yet to occur. I think it's quite likely that two further Dennis Tridents will be withdrawn, opposed to Volvo Olympians, as the remaining five at Stanley (3814/22/30/31/32) should only be allocated to scholars. As a very last resort, in between scholars services, the Volvo Olympians can be allocated to public services.

It has been suggested on the forum many times that 21 Scania N94s are due to migrate up north in total. It was stated in a news article recently that Go North East is "on track" to removing all step-entrance vehicles from the fleet by the end of this year. I think it's therefore quite likely that the eleven Scania N94s which are due to migrate north later this year (pending the entry into service of new vehicles in Brighton) will see the withdrawal of the remaining five Volvo Olympians from Stanley, three from Riverside, plus three further Dennis Trident withdrawals.

It has - was allocated to Scholars service 821 tonight. Certainly got a reaction to say the least!

I had seen your post earlier on the "Latest" thread.

It hasn't seen a full day's service yet - it was VOR this morning.

Ah right. Apologies.

On the topic of 6133, will this displace 3942 to Saltmeadows for a repaint into the corporate livery?

Learning from the master, eh?  Angel

If I can manage to get the plugin working again, I'll try and move this discussion regarding movements and cascades to the "Latest" thread, as it's not particularly appropriate to this thread.

If you read the rest of the fast cats livery it states the whole route Sunderland to Newcastle every 30 mins.....not just the back window.

Nearly all Fast Cats Solars that have X36 branding still have "Every 30 Minute's" even though its been around 6 months? since they reduced it to every hour.

Very misleading x36 should be dropped from fast cats

From the Sunderland Echo:

The traffic lights at the A690/A19 roundabout are out this morning, so if you were planning to head that way, expect delays or take another route if you can.

Will effect the 20/20A/X35 (Maybe the 35/36?)- if its the place i'm thinking of!
