RE: Pricing
(07 May 2015, 6:38 pm)aureolin wrote Were they? I've just taken a look again, and definitely can't find anything.

Much like the posters on-board buses, only the revised fares were displayed.

As you'd expect, the revised fares were noted in the relevant section:
http://www.simplygo.com/prices/

Updated on Tuesday, ready for the changes coming into effect on Wednesday. Rather short notice compared to usual - both fares are usually displayed on this section in the weeks leading up to the revised fares coming into fruition.

I wonder why there was no notice given on the website? They're usually posting a link to their website on social media weeks in advance, with full details of all fare changes. I wonder how many people would regularly check the prices page, in case the price of their regular ticket has changed.

RE: Pricing
Looks like Arriva have striked back on the North Tyneside saver with a Coastliner day saver. Valid on X9, 306 and whole of 308 and £3.70 for the day (20p cheaper) but £1 dearer for the week at £14.00 rather than £13.
RE: Pricing
Who do you think offers better value for money in North Tyneside? I'd say for the occasional hop, Arruva but if you're making:

- Frequent journeys
- More local links
- Trips across T&W and southern parts of the region

Then GNE offer better value
RE: Pricing
It appears that along with the recent price revisions for return tickets, Go North East have dropped the word 'Cheap' from their 'Cheap Day Return' product.

It was previously marketed with the 'Cheap' prefix, as shown here:

I used the Stanley Travel operated service 14 for the first time last night and I was pleasantly surprised that my fare from Arnison Centre to Durham was cheaper than the equivalent GNE 14 service.
Very nice bus too KX15 BLZ complete with seat belts.

What was the fare out of interest?

The last time I used the GNE service it was £1.50 but that was before the recent price increases.

It'll still be £1.50 - that fare hasn't been increased.

1hr 23mins, £7.70 return.

£7 ticket is only valid as far as Ellington, £7.70 ticket is valid on all Arriva North East buses.

It's £7.00 return to Alnwick so it won't be £7.70 to Amble.
RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - July 2015
That's a day ticket not a return.

If it's £7.00 return to Alnwick then surely it can't be £7.70 return to Amble (then again this is Arriva).

When I went to Alnwick on service X15 it was £7.00.

Yeah I think it's £5-£6 single.

It's only £7 for a day ticket, the £7.70 day ticket, if I recall correctly, covers all of Northumberland, up to Berwick.

The return price should be less than or equal to the day ticket price. We had several that were over until they got cut down last year! Middlesbrough to Guisborough was £6.40 but is now £5.70 (£3.70 single) the same as the day ticket price. For expensive fares how's about Guisborough to Nunthorpe, 10 min journey and is £3.20  :s

Aye, a lot of fares crossing the boundaries are very expensive too. Does the route between Guisborough and Nunthope cross any boundaries?

Regent Centre-Morpeth is £5.10 and that's only a 20 min journey!

Yup Redcar to Middlesbrough council boundary. It's only 50p more to go all the way from Easington to Middlesbrough, over an hour travelling time.

RE: Pricing
The price for an adult single between Chester-le-Street and Durham on the Go North East 21 service is £3.20, and a return is £4.50. On the Arriva ''MAX'' X12 service, the price of an adult single is £2.80 from Chester-le-Street to Durham, while a return is £5.10. Am I the only one noticing the seemingly big difference between the two singles and then the returns? With Go North East, the return for that journey is better value for money than the Arriva service, but for a single; the Arriva fare is easier on your wallet.

Should be £5 as the X12 day ticket is £5...

According to a tweet I made to Arriva North East a few months ago, a return for that journey is £5.10. I'm guessing it was a typo.

The good folks that manage Arriva's Social Media pages haven't got a clue at the best of times...

Said this a thousand times now, but it's about time Arriva let the individual op-cos manage their own Social Media pages and Customer Services.
RE: Pricing
The pricing on the Coaster doesn't make sense either:

From where I get on (Churchill Street), its £1.50 to Byker Retail Park, but £2.80 to the next stop on Shields Road. Surely that needs looking at, as £1.30 is a big jump for one stop.
