Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - October 2015

(10 Oct 2015, 10:48 am)MrPottski wrote The destinations are all done at Head Office, in my opinion they should be done at local level with scope for alterations and variations. I think the major bug bear for me is the town services in Darlington all have Darlington in the larger font rather than Town Centre. I believe the fonts are outdated, the numbers should be in Arial, like GNE, the Sapphire services should be different to differentiate them from normal services. But that's just my personal opinion.

Everything should be done at local level by local managers, simple as! How could somebody from Luton know about the services up here rather than relying on being spoon fed information from up here.

The destinations are done by the Commerical team - in Sunderland. Luton is only the call centre.

Arriva's Head Office is based in Doxford Park, Sunderland. Isn't it the 'global' Customer Services team that is based in Luton?

Go North East's destinations are all now maintained at Head Office level. Now that they tie in with other systems (such as Next Stop Announcements), I think that it's important to maintain consistency throughout, which is why destinations ought to be a Head Office function. Anyone can type in a terminal point and some via points as long as they have a timetable in front of them. I'm sure Arriva's destinations were managed locally a year or two ago as well, which shows that both operators have chosen to follow the same path by making it a Head Office function.

For the new Ushaw College DU2 service, I had to create three different versions of the display in total, as Durham University wanted certain things programming and removing in each version. It's far easier for the Commercial Department to tell me this in person than send an e-mail to somewhere ten miles down the road...

No, Ashington aren't transferring any buses, as there is still a vehicle shortage and I can't see it happening anyway. 7458 at Blyth is only temporary as all the Xs are getting MAX'd.

The external photos are of 7411 (LG52 DDK). 7410 is LG52 DDJ. One is of course destination for Blyth to release 7609 to Durham.

Temsas are all getting tested and taxed at present. Just waiting on seats I understand. Don't forget that 1404/5 are also taking priority given they need to be ready for two weeks time.

As stated before;
2x Wright Gemini / Volvo B7TLs 7410/7411 refurbished at Thorntons for MAX services at Blyth
4x Wright Gemini / Volvo B7TLs [possibly] 7412/7413/7414/7415 refurbished at Arriva London's Enfield depot for MAX X20 at Ashington.

Looks really nice, I'm looking forward to seeing them. But the lack of attention to detail is back, note the TfL Pull/Push to Open stickers on the doors.

Any idea who's destinations it's been programmed for? Looks like Durham County's SNIS blind.

Nothing has been started yet that both 7410/1 are for Blyth. Only one of them is destined for Blyth. Given the X20 has a PVR of 4, I'd expect whichever one of these two doesn't end up at Blyth will end up at Ashington as the X20 spare rather than stretching the already low MAX spares at Ashington.

Actually, one B7 spare at Ashington makes sense as MAX spares 7515/7516 are from 2009 (at least 6 years older). These already see service as Sapphire back-up vehicles, Summer extras, extra Match capacity never mind spares for the X14/5/8!
