Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - February 2016

RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - February 2016
(16 Feb 2016, 11:36 pm)nMichael wrote I'm not sure then but according to the changes on the link above it says:

Service X2 - Will be withdrawn and replaced by Lime route 8 between Washington & Sunderland with an identical route as it is now and also replaced by service X1 between Washington & Newcastle.

By the sounds of it, the 8 did directly replace the X2 between Sunderland & Washington.

Aha. Ive worked out what it is.

There was a time when the X8 was withdrawn and replaced with an extended 8 running from Castleside to Chester-le-Street (had previously changed to an X8 at Stanley). The 8 was later extended back to Sunderland, via the same route as previously (and also the X2 route) and replaced with service V8 between Stanley and Castleside.

That will be how the X2 was replaced.
RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - February 2016
I am going off my memory here and may be wrong but:

The 8 was Stanley - Castleside initially.
The X8 was Sunderland - Stanley.

The X2 was replaced by the 8.
The 8 replaced the X8 and stopped running to Castleside.

Thats exactly how it was, only without the period of time when the 8 ran between Castleside and Chester-le-Street. The Stanley - Castleside section was replaced by service V8.

You worked it out before I had a chance to remember!

The 2a/c were replacements (in part) to the 73/74.
The latter two did a circular route - similar to the 2a/c between Sunderland - Galleries, but it also did Waterview Park and parts of North Sunderland.
Essentially merging parts of the 185/6, 638 and 777 into one circular route.

I think the 73/74 had an additional prefix of a 7 in for a very short time.

I believe they are fitted with Daimler 4-cylinder, 5.1-litre OM934 Euro-6 Emission compliant engines.

Sorry to change the topic but am I the only one who thinks the 61 should change the pvr & put one of the silver mercs eg 5320 in red & use for spares on the 35/36 and 61

Only way you could do that is to change the frequancy and i'm not sure if they would drop it to every 20 minutes.

It was also mentioned in the order thread yesterday.

Yes they are because that's the only engine available in Streetdecks.
But what Gearbox do they have? Voith , ZF or the Daimler G90AMT Gearbox?

Or they could use the Solars of the 20 when they get the streetlites & then put all them mercs in red or brand them

I don't they'll replace 5320-5324 with older buses.

In my eyes depford has next to no spare vehicles like drifter no spare streetlites, see it do it Sunderland, simplicity

I think the red Solar's and Renown's are the spares for them services.

Cadets will go and probables the duel door B10's when the Streetlites enter service.

If some of the Scania's stop at Deptford, i hope they allocate them to the 33/33A/39.

The 17/17A could also get Scania's.

If so which one

It'll be for the Tynedale Links routes, no idea when it'll be out.

I think the Solar's will replace the Cadet's & some of the Dual Door Renown's.

Wouldn't be surprised as 20 Scania's will come free.

Currently in service:

9 Cadets
11 Duel door B10's

With the 2 extra Streetlites coming, hopefully it'll allow the 20 buses above to be withdrawn.

Edit:

When will the Pronto B7's go in for repaint?, Are they waiting for all the Streetdecks to enter service and then temporarily remove them from service to be repainted?

My guess is they'll start repainting the either the end of this month or start of next month.

Could be, not sure if it'll be allocated to a certain service or just any service but most of the Tynedale Links inter work.

It's basically a timetable for the bus - that's what it was scheduled to do today...  They don't usually look like that - they're usually in more of a timetable format, with route codes etc.
