That's what I've heard also, won't spill on where the Merc's are going.

Won't spill about Angel either........

I heard that Go-Ahead as a whole are going to create a new company called "Go-Ahead Bus & Coach", in order to sell on old vehicles much like Ensign and Arriva do, they new side of the business will also be used for Vehicle Repaints/Refurbs so that Go-Ahead won't have to outsource to other companies such as Thorntons, Hants & Dorset Trims and Blackburn Bus & Coach to name a few.

In regards to new orders, my lips are remaining firmly sealed....I guess you'll just have to sit tight for now with your popcorn at the ready when at home on NEB, and armed with your Camera when down at Saltmeadows pitching a tent wanting first photos of the new vehicles.
RE: Go North East: 2016/17 Financial Year Order Predictions
Is it possible to convert the Angel B5s to fully diesel? I know EYMS are currently in the process of converting their E400s from hybrid to diesel only with 904 being the latest vehicle to have this done.

Will most likely end up on the Crusader. Certainly didn't think that they'd need replacing this early on unless GNE are trying to conserve them whilst also taking into account that a new order would be a fresh start with a better spare vehicle ratio.

Aye I would say Crusader too depending on passenger numbers and I would think the TEN would be upgraded soon too so the B9s could either go on the Coaster or Northerns.

B9 on northerns? If it ain't over 13 years old and worn out, it ain't going near stanley's express or 6!

I think they'll get B9s but from Washington come 2018/19 rather than the TEN.

If the Coaster got buses of the TEN though, it would mean Percy Main only having 1x spare decker covering a PVR of 30 unless some B7 Geminis also got transferred including 1x to Deptford to release 6100 to Percy Main.

I always thought those B5LHs would end up at stanley because there's as many as northerns need, if not more. Not sure where else they'd go, but I still feel as if they're a decade too young to do this!

Certainly wouldn't consider the rough terrain of
Stanley, Consett and other outlying areas suitable for these at all. Will fit perfectly on the Crusader.

But, if Riverside / Hexham  could hold on until 6043-48 are replaced (meaning a dedicated TTX spare) they could do this:

- 16(or17) + 2x StreetDecks for Cobalt Clipper

- 6101-02 transferred to Hexham / Riverside for TEN meaning all B7 Geminis going spare unless 6084 is needed on TTX

- 6103-16 + 6117 as spare for the Coaster

- 6117 + 2x StreetDecks would mean Percy Main having 3x spare deckers covering a total PVR of 30 or 31 (similar or same ratio as PBs)

Stanley and Consett aren't bad.. it's just the terrain towards it. I can imagine them crawling up whickham bank and just dying about 10 seconds into the trip.
I much prefer the scania engines on those hills, particularly cn230s. I read somewhere that the position on the cog that most scanias sit on allows them to coast up hills whereas mercs just struggle. Would explain the solo's attempt to climb up it, never thought they were ever suitable for V7/8 for that alone, but that's just me.
Anyway, I'd be amazed if any B9 ends up on the northerns for some time, maybe that's just me being cynical tha.

Are we getting Optare Excels back from Blackpool Transport  Big Grin Big Grin

(yes kids, it isn't just recently that GNE have made awful 21 choices, they've got form!)

It genuinely wouldn't surprise me if we ended up with Omnishambles..erm Dekkas as a weird Angel stop gap
Wistfully stuck in the 90s
RE: Go North East: 2016/17 Financial Year Order Predictions
You can't not use a type of bus on a route just because the route goes up a hill...

I wouldn't have thought the B5s could come off the angel until at least September 2017 anyway, given that they are 62 reg?
Go North East: 2016/17 Financial Year Order Predictions
A theory I have for B9's is, the examples currently used on the Ten will remain on the Ten's however I think that three (or whatever number is needed to fulfil the current PVR) of the B9's off the TTX will become branded for the Ten, unsure what you'd do with the remaining examples, possibly spares for Riverside and/or Washington. Goodness knows what you'd get for the X9/X10, StreetDeck's?

This is the 2016/7 order though technically making them 5 years as they came in the 2011/2 order I think.

The angels would fall under the 2017/18 order if they did have to wait until they were exactly 5 years until they are replaced.

I think the TTX Geminis will go spare. Had a thought about them going on the X30/X31 but given some other potential single decker cascades this year, I don't see why the Omnicities would need cascading.

I think out of all the B9 routes that it will be the Cobalt Clippers getting StreetDecks. GNE weren't going to fit them GKN mods for no reason and at the time of ordering, there were no suitable lightweight alternatives bar the Enviro 400 (no relationship between GNE and ADL).

But looking at the StreetDeck, the amount of fuel saved in terms of Percy Main's cost base would mean that if B9s went on the Coaster, the cost base taking the fuel savings into account would be the same if not, marginally higher compared to currently taking into account the extra capacity plus potential growth that the B9s would generate on the Coaster.

The stanley expresses should be the same brand with the 6 inclusive. Especially since they cut down the X30/X31 route. The toon link idea never struck me as a good one. They share the same vehicles at some point on the timetables so is odd to keep them separate brands.
RE: Go North East: 2016/17 Financial Year Order Predictions
The only time the 6 and X30 interwork is on Sundays. Putting them into the same brand for the sake of them using the same branded vehicle for one day every week would be pointless.

The 6 runs onto the X31 every mon-friday evening.
