Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - November 2016

RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - November 2016
(08 Nov 2016, 5:50 pm)BFK wrote No.  It has already been done over the last 4 weeks for all Deptford drivers.  The route learning currently going on is for the Peterlee routes and changes.  Deptford will be supplying some drivers to Peterlee on a temporary basis.

It looked like the driver on the 9 I used didn't know the route and stalled the bus twice, even though that might be because of the age of the bus

Automatic gearboxes can't stall as such. It'll be some fault.

Torque Convertor failing to disconnect before coming to a standstill can stall the bus, And vice Versa for Accelerating. This is one of the more common faults but it of course be something else.

It could just be Driver Error but I'd hope not if he's done it repeatedly.

Optare MetroDecker 9099 will enter service tomorrow at Chester-le-Street on Angel service 21.

Optare Solo 705 has now arrived at Washington - after inspection, it will enter service, allowing 605 to transfer to another depot.

I'll take over Michael's role with the questions this eve  Wink

Do we know where 605 will transfer to? Also will Peterlee mercs go for repaint rebrand ahead of December's changes?

Good name tbh, maybe they should just take the Wear Tee's Xpress words off and replace them with that.

Think they'll need 5 Citaro's so i would think the spare from Deptford will be brought to Peterlee.

I think they'll only need the 4 Citaro's too so that's even better.

Exactly not a lot of adjustment required...

Tongue, they might not even be allocated Citaro's yet but to keep the competition with Arriva, they should.

Hopefully the X5 (X35) will also gain Citaro's next year (If the services are going to Citaro allocated).

Interesting! Didn't think they'd look past a Streetdeck.

Unless it's just to cover the massive amount of non hybrid workings kicking around
Wistfully stuck in the 90s

Just to be clear, you want the running boards of buses on the 9, not public timetable journeys?
I am too interested to see the new management of boards.

Go North East

1/2 - We've diverted our 20 & 20A Prince Bishops services via Claypath when they leave Durham to avoid delays on Leazes Bowl Roundabout.

2/2 - If you normally board the 20 & 20A at the underpass stop, we are stopping at the bus stop at the bottom of Claypath as an alternative.

This mightn't be quite correct, but a fairly brief look at the timetable shows this -

6 buses needed on 9 during M-F daytimes, 4 on an evening:

1 - starts at Park Lane at 0539 and is out all day. Finishes at Jarrow at 2355.
2 - starts at Jarrow at 0554 and is out all day. Finishes at North Shields at 2341.
3 - starts at Park Lane at 0604, last run ends at Jarrow at 1742
4 - starts North Shields at 0620, out all day and finishes at Park Lane at 0014.
5 - starts Jarrow at 0735 and last run ends at Jarrow at 1842
6 - starts Jarrow at 0815 and is out all day, last run ends at Park Lane at 2344.

Not sure if any of these are scheduled on any other routes either side of their work on the 9. Maybe someone could find out? Fair amount of dead mileage involved if there aren't any suitable positioning runs.
RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - November 2016
A bit belated but thanks Dan for Red Kite info + sundry posts on the topic.

I'm with S813FVK.  A day's work experience with the scheduling dept. would be ace.

Is this really what this forum has resorted to? Criticism of the drivers knowledge of the route and of the fact that he or she was struggling with a mechanically difficult bus . This is not bus enthusiasm, which is what I thought this forum was all about . Try driving a difficult bus on a strange route.

Our Prince Bishops 20 & 20A have returned to normal routes in Durham after the roadworks at Leazes Bowl have been removed.
