Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - January 2017

RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - January 2017
"OK way /Express as North East or Northern would promote a quality brand with an "Established heritage"

----

Rather not have them back if i'm going to be honest, we had "Northern" in some form and everyone moaned about it... It wasn't the best though.

Why do people want to go back to older liverys when it's 2017, maybe the older generation will enjoy the come back of older liveries but no one else will or notice them.

They should just stick to one livery and leave it the same for a while...

I do agree on buses been on the wrong routes is confusing though but sometimes it can't be helped.

I do think that it is strange that new buses are being deployed on a service that will be debranded in line with the new vehicles as opposed to being branded. It maybe isn't one of the strongest brands but I certainly wouldn't withdraw it given the brands background (although not too relevant to the areas served!)

5452 has entered service at Riverside on the 49/49A: https://www.flickr.com/photos/nebp2/3172...otostream/

They are to get sub-branding for the 49s of some description.

Might of well just branded it fully lol

#5455

Prior to entering service; this vehicle has received Go North East's corporate livery with "The 49s" branding.

Ye, wonder if they've put a logo of the 49's on the side, like they did when they branded Deptfords "X36/X37" and "Nine" at Percy Main.

Yeah, but they were pretty naff brands which didn't have much customer appeal, branded for the sake of branding them... so hopefully "The 49s" is a little more stylish and doesn't look slapped on last minute.

Like any change, no doubt it'll be like marmite too, like!
I do like change, but I also get to see what was to had. For example, when 3885-9 came off the X30/1s, I realised how badly they needed the peak time space that the 97 person capacity that the 50-60 person capacity that the omnicities simply don't have. Of course the buses are a similar size and it's just paint at the end of the day, but we'll see 😛

5455 has been delivered to Riverside depot this morning and has branding for service 49 group.

It is rather minimalist and is a big departure from the previous Blaydon Racer brand!

Going to be honest, it's not bad but could be better.

Hoping the Blaydon Racers brand will be put on another service in the future.

Doesn't look too bad I feel.

Maybe, would be good to have some sort of route branding on most/all services (with newer/new) although it will cost a lot of money so it seems doubtful but i'm not saying you're wrong Jimmi, you never know.

This 49 livery is unoriginal and boring. Another step in the wrong direction .... and is proper branding on the way out? Why not keep Blaydon Racers? Or couldn't they think of a different name or colour, as happened with IndiGo.

Regardless of how uninspiring it is, you've got to think why bother slapping a 49 vinyl on it. If they wanted to bin off a strong service route identity they should have left them unbranded.

If it is to be rolled out across other services, I'd suspect it'll just be for the moderately performing routes, and not mainstream core money-makers.

I would imagine so, it seems a good idea to do that, as it means routes will have their own identity and buses but i don't expect to see it on buses which are close to getting withdrawn (older Scania's and Presidents from London) or for routes which are fully funded by NEXUS to receive it.

I Hope the Blaydon Racers brand wont be lost as I thought it was quite effective. Hopefully its put on the 12 as thats an ideal route for it compared to the 49.

Just looking at this 49 brand though I think it looks quite good. Using the corporate livery well but also with noticeable route info. Not the most exciting brand but better than just the plain red and blue.

Because it has very little relation to the 49/49A maybe? Neither service goes along Scotswood Road and only 1 service goes via Blaydon. I'd have expected a critical person like you to have presented that argument pretty quickly!

This is one of the reasons I'm glad the Blaydon Racers brand is being binned as this case used to crop up very regularly.
RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - January 2017
I would like to see 5 of 5275-83/5331 retain their Blaydon Racers branding and allocated to the 12s, allowing 5234-38 to go onto the 28s, as it was hinted before that the 28 was to be upgraded soon.
