Needs to be more frequent considering most people only ever get the 100 between Newcastle and Metrocentre.
Anyways, didn't there used to be a 64?

Yes your right, there was,it ran Forest Hall-Chapel House, the 64A ran Chapel House-Killingworth which is now the 63,cant remember the way the old 63 went but i do recall it going via West Moor then along Benton Lane, there was also the 62,62A,and 62B,aswell as the 61 which operated from Longbenton (cant remember where to),the 38 also used to serve Forest Hall
Kind Regards

Not to mention the low bridge in Dunston.
RE: Stagecoach North East: Service Suggestions
The only way this 64 would work is by using E200/300. They could take the metro centre allocation but then where would the rest come from. Any ideas?

I never understood this as the Ten, 47 and the 602, X12/X36 before ran with double deckers. My idea was short workings as well.

They operate through a different section of dunston which will take it longer.

Not particularly longer.
If it uses the road between Wellington Road and Handy Drive, I cant see it taking too much longer (if at all) than its current route.

Don’t know why there changed the route originally, should of kept it on the motorway after the last stop at central station it was faster and straight

Takes forever to go around that way, no quicker than via Dunston Park. The metrocentre is terribly designed as in there is no direct exit onto the A1. The A1114/Teams Street as quick as any other. TENs and Red Kites/6As take the same time in the variations they take. I think it works well now (or as well as it can), the 3 ways from Newcastle to Metro.
RE: Stagecoach North East: Service Suggestions
X34: South Shields - Pier Head - Marsden - Horsley Hill - Harton Nook - Whitleas - Boldon - Gateshead - Newcastle.
Service extended to South Shields via Pier Head, the service will no longer serve Prince Edward Road and will operate in both directions between Harton Nook and Marsden. Shields Circular 30 and 30A:

RE: Stagecoach North East: Service Suggestions
NEW Services X1 & X2 replacing existing Services X1 & X24

NEW Service X1 will operate from Sunderland Interchange Stand G – Belvedere Road – Tunstall Road – Queen Alexandra Road – Durham Road – City Way – Doxford International – City Way – direct via A19 then via existing X24 route to Gateshead and Newcastle.
To speed up journey times, new Service X1 will operate on a ‘boarding only’ basis between Sunderland Interchange and the Durham Road, with no stops for alighting until Doxford International.  It will then operate non-stop to Gateshead High Street and Newcastle Pilgrim Street.  Journeys from Newcastle will operate as ‘alighting only’ between Durham Road and Sunderland Interchange.

NEW Service X2 will operate via the existing X24 route between Newcastle and Sunderland University, then instead of serving Vine Place and Fawcett Street will operate via St Michaels Way and Grange Terrace to Sunderland Interchange Stand G.
To speed up journey times, new Service X2 will operate on a ‘boarding only’ basis between Sunderland Interchange and Gateshead High Street, with no stops for alighting until Gateshead High Street and Newcastle Pilgrim Street. Journeys from Newcastle will operate as ‘alighting only’ between Gateshead and Sunderland Interchange.

Both services will operate half hourly Monday – Saturday and will interwork requiring a PVR of 5 (achieved through faster journey times and the changes to terminal point in Sunderland).  The increased frequency will allow the use of lower capacity vehicles, improving fuel efficiency.  These changes will also enable the frequency of Service 4 to be restored to 10 minutes throughout the evening peak as the vehicles will no longer be required for Service X1.

Short hop local journeys won’t be possible on Services X1 and X2 but continue to be available on Stagecoach services 3, 4, 8, 12, 16 & 23.

One problem, I don't think Stagecoach would want to pay to use the bus station that much, that is one of the reasons why Stagecoach don't serve Gateshead Interchange, Heworth. That is a reason why the E buses were pulled from Park Lane aswell.

Yes you are probably right, thought the services could still run those routes using the stops the 8 & 20 do instead.   The number of unused stands at Park Lane nowadays is pretty telling.

Not only Park Lane stands missing services they seem to be missing the famous security who confront you for taking photos of the buses.

Ye, wouldn't be surprised if more services are pulled in the near future, would be better if they didn't pay or even if it was a smaller fee, then at least it would fill the empty stands, congestion played a massive part for the Sunderland Stagecoach services pulling out too.

Although not Stagecoach but i'm not sure why the 73 stops at stand S, should be stand R, then stand S,T and V can be used as drop off/parking (if the parking bays full).
Ooo Friend, Bus Friend.

Think it's because it's a Nexus Bus and to avoid confusion with GNE buses they separated it.

Going old school with those boarding rules mind Wink

As for the Park Lane comments. Couldn't they just operate via Holmeside on an in/out basis? Inbound X1 runs on to an outbound X2 and vice versa?

Could do but would probably need to add 5-10 mins per jourey to get round/through town - so would likely add another bus to the PVR.  That was the thinking behind of terminating on the edge of city centre, kind of like the X24 & X34 do in Newcastle at the minute
