Generally speaking the newer the bus, the more they don't like being parked up without being moved. All the adblue systems and such.

Of course, they'll be a bit more fuel efficient too, so during this crisis where these buses aren't required it makes sense to use them.

One was in Darlington too recently but didn't catch the service number. I'm guessing it was service 16 as it was on Staindrop Road

They've been used on a number of the services operating out of Barnard Castle over the past couple weeks so could have been the 84 also

Been all over the place including the likes of the 47, 84, 113.

Will have been 84 Josh saw it on as services 16 & 20 are currently suspended as a result of the pandemic.

Services 35A & S1 are running on reduced timetables with the 108/109 running to a Saturday timetable

Thanks, an interesting list. I'm almost 100% certain that there is a 15 year age limit for buses used on Durham County Council local bus contracts, so some further vehicle changes needed very soon.

NT05 NBM is still in service, quite frequently on the Barnard Castle area services.

Interesting. Does anyone know their PVR? It's difficult to work out how many of their vehicles they still use!

Don't know exact numbers but it's less than 33, think the full service PVR is around 28 although difficult to count how many buses they have at present as fleet has been all over the place of late.

They have recently advertised the coaches and the four remaining ex Transdev Versas with them looking to replace the Versas with more Cummins engined Solos.

A newbie to the fleet is M1020 Solo YJ57XXE

Service 16 resumed operating last Monday, 12th April, to coincide with Lockdown Easing stage 2. A variety of buses have been used, the latest being YJ64 DYH on Saturday and again today. No sign yet of "Pinky" (aka YJ55 YGL).

Service 16 in Darlington has a revised timetable from tomorrow, journeys are retimed to run around half an hour later to give a better spread in times with Arriva's service 3, there is a slight reduction in journeys however.

RE: Scarlet Band Motors
Surprised they didn't keep them all. Perhaps they found the solos better suited for the work they have. Thought the versas might have replaced the enviro 200s being non standard in the fleet. I know they are newer but they are shabby and tired. They have been good workhorses though.

Versas were purchased because the council supposedly wanted bigger buses on service 58, when that was withdrawn there wasn't really anywhere for them to suitably be allocated to and nothing that needed the extra capacity apart from the 108/109.

Scarlet Band to operate to reduced timetables from Monday 10th October.

111/112/115
These will be reduced to operate every two hours from Monday.

108/109
The Willington end journeys will alternate between Oakenshaw and Wear Valley View Estate. Journeys currently serve both* Oakenshaw and Wear Valley View but this has proved unsustainable with increasing passenger numbers and road traffic. The whole evening service after the 1735 departure from Bishop Auckland is regrettably suspended due to the driver situation.

*was unaware they were even doing this, timetables online suggests they were doing what they're supposedly doing from next week although had noticed late running whilst I've been in Bishop Auckland.

It’s a shame as that’s another independent gone then and a well established one at that. The question is what gone wrong at the company because 10 year ago it seemed a well run company but the last 3 or so years it seems to have been mismanaged. I hope all staff get jobs elsewhere then.

As for the remaining contract services they have I can see Weardale possibly picking up a few round the Bishop Auckland, Sedgefield areas. As for the remaining work then that could be interesting.

I think the staff who are bus drivers won't have any trouble getting a job.

If they indeed want to stay in the industry.

Lots of other jobs out there where the pay is similar and the work less strenuous, not to mention a better work/life balance.
RE: Scarlet Band Motors
Had expected this to happen following rumours they had lost the park and ride contract.
As a passenger who has to endure their poor operation in the park and ride contract, it's good they have lost it. There's been buses missing/ not turning up since before Brexit and covid.
As for his letter blaming drivers who have left it must have been for a good reason as theirs obviously 2 sides to that.
The fleet has gone to the dogs in the last 5 years. No care for presentation or even a single livery. It lists drivers coming up to retirement as a reason. A cynical person would say it's convenient the company is folding before the drivers get their full amount. I am
Sure the owner will have a nice retirement at his place in Spain whilst his drivers have to funds other ways of keeping their families.
