So will the new vehicles arrive branded for where they are intended to end up, or will there be some rebranding later down the line once things are a bit more normal?

All to be delivered by October, with the first deliveries commencing in the next few weeks.

The new vehicle allocations reflect the position once new, hopefully more efficient, interworking patterns are implemented. Exact details of this are being finalised now, but has been prompted as a result of the expected longer-term loss of patronage of 15-20%. Clearly if any efficiencies are made by interworking other services with the X30, then they need to be low-height double-decks which is the main reason for the change.

Colleagues internally have not yet been briefed on which cascades will take place, but some of you may wish to speculate on this...

Alright, i would like to say, my predictions was wrong about all the E400 going to Consett.

The X84 & X85 is certainly an interesting move though. When not required on Sundays (if no plans for Sunday X84/X85 service), will the E400MMCs be allocated to Sunday Tyne Valley Ten boards which start & finish the day at Hexham?

I suppose they could take 6302-7 leaving 6301 as a spare for CLS, that would leave 6331-3 for the X21, plus some of the B5s to make up the PVR and a spare.

If that were to happen, they would all have matching interiors again!

The PVR is 8 for X21, so i would think it would be the 7 B5's from the X9/X10 and 6334 allocated and have 6335 as the spare... think Go North East moved away from mixed allocations a while back.

I'd guess it'd probably be either Generic Xlines or a branded spare as there's no other X-Lines routes at Washington

The original statement last year was all buses would be in Xlines livery. If they do need swapping about when they get here, least it's just the rear end to do

Could the X30 interwork with the X70 & X71 (PVR 8) with the X31 instead being extended to Consett hourly (PVR 4)?

I've tried all sorts of combinations and driving hours would be tipping 5+ hours. Not ideal if any traffic.

That's how I looked at it. X70/X71 & X30 interworking and X31 stand alone. Pvr 12 with 2 spares.

With citaros it will be cheaper than paying £50 each time to enter newcastle. Also believe MG said Citaro very fuel thirsty. But also it GNE can offer contracts with euro 6 buses, might help make their offer more attractive in future contracts

Ye defo, i'd rather keep the £50 than give it to others but they're defo fuel thirsty... all 14 Citaro's from Crusader withdrawn then, along with the 5 from the X84/X85 and 5481- 5487 withdrawn.

I very much doubt they'll keep any of them tbh, as well as being expensive to run, they're expensive to maintain, makes sense to get rid of them, plus either MG or Dan said that they wouldn't be here much longer

Not many of them though as most of them have just been repainted in to the 2019 livery or updated to euro 6.

4 new E400s for hexham with 6336/6337 making up the allocation and spare.

Speaking of XLINES

At what point did 6336 received that huge GO NORTH EAST logo above the destination, looks very out of place. 

Noticed the Dennis logo on 6336 is where the GO NORTH EAST logo would usually be placed, 6337 has the logo in between the lights.

Just had a thought, can the E400s be fitted with the driver side or double height blind like the StreetDecks can?

Offside destination, yes.
Front double-depth destination, no.

Also, just noticed whilst having a little stalk of Dan's Flickr that there are more photos of the StreetDeck interiors, I personally hate the new 'burgundy'  colour of the plastics, but it's great to see that they've still got 240v sockets at the tables! Having the stop button at the tables is an excellent idea, something that should have been put on the E400s as at the minute you have to invade someone's space to push the button, or walk to the front to push the one 'real' button.

I think suits it a lot better than what it did on the ex-oxford dual door B10s

I really like the light blue they currently use, it feels a lot brighter, which is needed with relatively small windows. It already looks quite dark in the photo (although that could just be Dan's photography skills )
