Looks like they've renamed the 821X to the X21S. I wonder if it's a contracted service because I'm fairly sure Arriva ran a service exactly like that

Surely these are just extra services for New College Durham for Covid and social distancing, since they'd fill the normal bus and are all terminating there. The 28 extra I guess is for the school at Stanley from Ouston and Pelton.

Mercs on the 19, that's something I didn't think I'd ever see. (They've replaced the two Scania's which pretty much only ran on the 19 - 5273 / 5274)

5273/74 shouldn’t have ever been allocated to the 19. The 19 is supposed to be allocated Solos.
The Crusader Citaro will be operating dupes, mainly for Stagecoach and Arriva.

They're always or always were on though especially the last few weeks. (5274 being on yesterday before it's gone to Riverside).
Fair on the Citaro's though.

Over the summer the scholars services which 5273/74 are supposed to be allocated to won’t have been running. The reason for their transfer to Riverside is due to the loss of these contracts.
The transfer of the Citaros to Percy Main is unrelated, and wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for the short-notice award of extra contracts from Stagecoach.

Makes sense then, always wondered why there was 2 stray Omnicities randomly left at Percy Main, had a feeling they were school contacts though.

Funny I was just thinking the other day it would be great if the likes of 838 were put out on some dupes in Sunderland to help out with capacity. Obviously wouldn't meet PSVAR rules but you would think there could/should be a way around that if vintage buses were used exclusively to duplicate easy access alternatives. Suspect NEBPT would be reluctant to risk the inevitable damage that would be caused to the interior though.
RE: September 2020 service changes
I think Go North East need to take a look at some of their planned reallocation's following new vehicles entering service as I think personally that once the Red Arrows B9's have been Refurbished at Blackburn for The Crusader that the former London B9's need to go on the 58 for extra capacity as each time I see this service leaving Gateshead throughout Covid-19 the service is packed with zero social distancing in place.
I understand the former London B9's are due to go on the 93/94 but this is only warrants DD's at peak times from Team Valley other than that I wouldn't say the service warrants them, I think increasing frequency back up to Every 15 Minutes maybe more beneficial.
The same could be said for the Q1/Q2 for the Gateshead section of the route as very few are using it beyond that at the moment to go over to Newcastle via Quayside while I think some shorts between Newcastle and Birtley on the 21 as again full capacity is been reached even though it is supposed to be restricted to up to 35 passengers iirc.
Does anyone know if there is any vehicles available with Go-Ahead Group i.e. London for reallocation albeit temporarily until more new vehicles to come in via future orders if Go North East has the money that is.

Go North East: Duplicates for social distancing & schools
Spotted Go North East Mercedes Citaro 5314 on the Stagecoach 11 to North Kenton this morning. Not sure where to post this!
RE: September 2020 service changes
Is Crusader Mercedes Citaro 5314 on hire to Stagecoach? I thought just scholar's buses were going to be using hire buses from other bus operators? 5314 was on the 11 to North Kenton. Is that likely to happen again?

Go North East are operating 56 extra buses on duplicate services across the region, with just under half of these being for Arriva and Stagecoach.

I wonder how well the schools duplicates have been used? Looks like its been a great effort to pull everything together to make it happen, but I do worry that 'first bus to turn up' syndrome comes into play for the kids that would use them?

I've heard of the kids letting the Scholars service go past and waiting for the normal one. Although to me if you're on a school specific service you'd just stop and tell the kids to get on your bus anyways?
