Colours lead to me suggest that Michael could be correct, the Durham Culture bid logo uses pink and a pink gradient with a hint of purple.

It would make sense to send it to Washington or Deptford due to their Streetlite routes. Although Prince Bishops is always streetlites where as the 50 also interworks with the 26. If this is true it should go to Deptford it would make most sense.

Also the 6333 is at Saltmeddows

Consett makes the most sense it's in County Durham, it's not a city bid it's county bid. 90% of the 20 and 50/26 are in Tyne and Wear. I'm assuming it'll be allocated to the 78 which runs the most in County Durham of any of GNE's routes (if it's that anyway).

5401 is the spare Streetlite for the 78 so this is where it should remain unless Go North East have it run on rotation between Consett, Washington, Chester and Deptford given they all operate routes to Durham.

They're one branded vehicle short so presumably 5401 will make up the 8th bus in the PVR

of which Consett and Chester-le-Street don't regularly run StreetLites into Durham City.

It is technically, but the whole ethos of Durham's bid is that it's countywide, hence the tagline 'Durham 2025, No Ordinary County'

Apart from the bit where it goes into Tyne & Wear between Hetton and Moorsley

Not sure why everyone seems obsessed with it being allocated to a route that runs mostly or exclusively in County Durham. Surely the purpose is to promote awareness of and support for the bid, and that support doesnt only have to come from within the County (there would be plenty of benefit to the wider region should Durham win the title).

It wouldn’t make much sense to allocate a “Durham 2025 City of Culture” branded bus to the Coaster 1 or 12/12A, as they don’t touch County Durham but at the same time it doesn’t need to be exclusively used in County Durham! Not to mention, there’s not a huge amount of routes that operate solely in County Durham. Going outside the area is fine, as said above it promotes the bid. In a somewhat bizarre move, the City of Culture competition now allows for counties/groups of towns/areas to bid as one - Northumberland was part of the ‘long list’ in a bid with the “Borders” which also included Cumbria, Dumfries and Galloway and the Scottish Borders, I believe. So for County Durham’s bid, the 78 is probably a decent route for it - serves a good chunk of North Durham - and it does need another bus for its increased PVR.

Let’s remember Sunderland City of Culture 2021 bid also had branded bus, it was a regular on 20s and 60s, both routes of which of course spend a good chunk of time in County Durham and of course the former ends up in South Tyneside too! Deptford didn’t just allocate the bus to 39s each and every day for the sake of it being it exclusively Sunderland.

Despite confusing articles in the press, it is dual. County including Locomotion, Beamish etc, and specifically for Durham City.

According to Bus Times 5401 is at Durham Cathedral probs for a photoshoot.

It must have been a struggle to get there.
