Since the temperature was fairly mild yesterday averaging around 6c. I very much doubt she froze to death. It's Newcastle not Newfoundland

Probably exaggerated like most complaints as well. Lost count of the number of times people have been waiting over an hour when you've passed 2 or 3 buses heading the other way that you know were in front of you...

I don't know about an hour and a half, but I can vouch for no buses turning up for an hour - that's for sure...!

Most normal people would give up after half an hour or so and find an alternative method. I wouldn't stand around that long in the cold that's for sure...

At 8pm on a Saturday night, there are very few alternative methods...

Only one guy who had waited for over an hour gave up and went to get a pint instead, followed by a taxi.

My only alternative methods from Concord would have been to get to Shields to get a 35 home, or to the Galleries and then 2A/2C followed by any of the buses to get me back over the other side of the water. Either of those would have taken even longer than my hour-long delayed 56. There's also the element of, "If I leave, the bus will turn up" - if you've waited for 30 minutes or so and there's another bus due, why would you leave to get another bus which would take around 1hr + longer?

EDIT:
For reference -

1951 #4 to The Galleries (1958)
2005 #2C to Sunderland (2036)
2050 #9 to Stadium of Light Metro (Approx 2100)

Would have got me home 30 mins later as the connections weren't too bad. As Adam said though, there were delays to the 4 yesterday - I could have missed that connection and I would have been waiting around for 1hr 10m at The Galleries...

The 56 had already turned up before the 2002 #50A arrived, bound for Shields.

I must apologise... You're used to waiting around for 1hr+ for a delayed 685...! Tongue

Indeed, but its even worse when you have to walk for half an hour to get to the bus stop itself!

Could you have not made your way back to Heworth and picked up a bus there?
No idea of the times/frequency on a night from there like.

On a slightly different note, is this not a perfect example of what happens when a company consolidates several routes into one?
A delay somewhere on route, disrupts the service etc.
Whereas (harking back), issues in the past, could have let to you getting a bus which had a similar route, but avoided the area where problems were/had been occurring.

Should have been sanded down yesterday ready for Monday's Blaydon Racer repaint.

Out in service at Riverside on Tuesday, all being well.

That's what you can do when you do single colour repaints! Imagine it will get vinyled at a later date.

That's why vehicles are usually sent on Saturday if they are due in for repaint the following week (providing they are all from different depots). The process is a lot quicker.

Defiantly, theirs only the Citaro's left to re-paint now?

The of course branding all the buses which has had re-paints...

Along with Wheyaye50 Solars 4930/31 and Possibly Cobalt Renown 4911, and also the WTX Renowns unless they end up getting Withdrawn which I highly doubt. And the South Tyne Cadets which are on the 5, Bazza told me they were to be repainted soon also when I seen him at The Metrocentre a few weeks back, taken with a Pinch of Salt that part though.

Forgot about the Whey aye-five-0 scania's.

4911 repainted in Northern colours would seem the best option...

I would think the WTX would be re-painted and only used on short routes.

South Tyne 5, not sure first iv'e heard of that one

(09 Feb 2014, 8:13 am)Dan wrote One thing I noticed immediately was the increase in quality between the two of your cameras Adam.
Definitely think your new one was a good purchase.

Thanks Dan, I think for £50 I certainly got a Bargain for a 16mp Camera, compared to the £35 I paid for my First Camera which was supposed to be a 12mp Camera, But that just got worse Quality wise and eventually Broke. I still can't understand why some Enthusiasts pay £300+ for a Camera, which is just as Good as the Camera I have, Minus Night Shots which I still haven't figured out how to set up Properly without it going Blurry.

We'll find out next week (if we don't work it out before then). Wink

I've spent around £270 on my Nikon D3100 and it is simply brilliant. You get what you pay for in my eyes - better photos generally come with better cameras. Sometimes it is just the lack of knowledge on how to use that can give cr*p shots. I'm still learning about mine after around 7 or 8 months Smile
