(09 Feb 2025, 7:56 pm)Malarkey wrote Surely those E200's get split between Hartlepool and South Shields to replace all of the Dennis Dart SLF Plaxton Pointer 2's.

Also Sunderland will need 3/4 Euro 6 Buses for the X24 once the Gas Buses are Withdrawn unless they are going to allocate the spare Yutong E12's.

I wouldn't be surprised if either Sunderland or South Shields get more E300's from somewhere in the future to replace all their E200's down to Hartlepool tbh.

36081 - 36094 are some of the oldest vehicles in the whole Stagecoach empire now and as far as I'm aware there's no midibuses due up here. They must be near the top of the chopping block to go in the future.

I'd assume South Shields' Darts will be replaced by them aswell.

The X34 is no longer operated by Sunderland depot, it did interwork while it was from there but has been back under shields operating for about 1 year. Sunderland do run it on Sundays and interwork with X24 on a pvr of 2/3

Hartlepool's Darts will more than likely be replaced by 37314/5/6 from Stockton once they go fully electric. Plus, as mentioned, possibly Stockton's E400s as well but that will be a wait-and-see movement.

27727 is back out in service at Slatyford alongside 27735/6&7 with 27738 currently VOR. With the 271/2’s potentially leaving Slatyford in the coming weeks/months due to them being Euro 5 how many 277’s will be heading north if we are also getting the 262’s?

27738 is over the pits at sunderland depot

Might just be back for repair? Does seem strange that 27728 was transferred back though. 36467 has transferred to Shields, and 27726 to Walkergate. Both so far have not replaced anything by the looks of it.

Well I’m going to assume some of the 277’s will be heading to Newcastle soon enough as Slatyford’s 271** and 272**’s are heading away from Newcastle most likely to Sunderland and Stocktons 262**’s are heading to Slatyford but there’s not enough to fully cover the 17 27’s at Slatyford. Plus Walkergate have 5 so will probably get more 277’s from Sunderland.

24101-24115 will remain at Slatyford due to Euro 6 engines until the electric buses turn up which is when they will probably go.

Stagecoach management did tell the Hartlepool public transport forum that a majority of Stockton’s buses would replace the Hartlepool fleet once Stockton get the electrics.  However people are just assuming and guessing of what will happen and plans seem to change all the time so while it would be nice to get some E300 ( Am fairly sure they would be a way round any issues with the Pit, I believe the industrial unit  is now empty so depot could be expanded with a new engineering area ) it will remain to be seen what will happen.  I mean the buses are getting worse by the day.  36087 destination screen is broke to the point it just displaying random dots a few days ago with the driver having to tell passengers in the town centre what service it was, and quite a few have got damaged wheel arches now as well.

If 24101-24115 are staying, I wonder if some of the 64/65 Plate Enviro 300's might displace some E200's out from either Sunderland or South Shields down to Hartlepool.

In theory, unless some leave the region, you've got:
84x Yutongs In

Out:
29x Gas
17x MAN's at Stockton (Assume)
4x Elderly E300's at Stockton
12x Darts
8x MAN E200's
Total 68

Leaves 16 buses still to go which are unaccounted for and if it's not the MAN's at Slatyford then the 59 Plate E200's are pretty much next on the chopping block which there just happens to be 16 of if you include the 08 plate one. There's also conveniently 17 E200's at Sunderland and conveniently the E300's plus extra Yutongs over the 11 Plates all adds up aswell, believe it's 48 if my maths are right including the ones at Walkergate. That extra E200, and the 3 E200's at Stockton seeing off the Darts at Hartlepool.

PS. I've well overthought this but it all works out.

I seen a photo of new yutong buses with new yutong stagecoach electric bus in background I if it new yutongs for stagecoach Stockton depot I think? For Delivery.

Think it will be pretty impossible to work out much more definitively until it's done - I am pretty much lost off already with what the recent Scottish E300s replaced let alone the electrics into the mix.  I think 27715-18 replaced the Cambridge loans which in turn replaced the open toppers but they were always and additional allocation over the summer so not sure why they needed replacing anyway.  As for 27615, 27720, 27770-72 and whatever the most recent ones are I'm not sure what if anything they displaced.

Likewise the E400MMCs at Slaty - not sure 8 E400 have been displaced yet and they've been in service a month already and knock on effect 5 of the hybrids they were due to replace remain in use.  So all of that needs to shake down as well as the cascades from the electrics (not sure 27726/27/35 replaced anything... or indeed what if anything 27736/38 replaced last year for that matter).

Aye no arguments there, can't disagree tbh.

Re the 715-18/cambridge/OT;
Last year the open tops were basically part of the normal allocation as we were so short on buses, indeed two were listed on the fleetcard rather than just as reserve, hence they were still in service in October. This is why the four Cambridge ones came up on loan until a permanent replacement could be found.

Sunderland need 200s for the 8, 10/11 and 23. You can get a full size bus round them all but it's far from ideal, especially the 8 and 10.

There does seem to have been a lot of E300s allocated to the 10/11s recently

Thanks - have the open toppers gone or are they still on site at Wheatsheaf? Presumably they definitely won't be resurrected again even if they do still exist?  Wonder what will do the Late Shows etc this year - though I note no reference to open toppers, just "free buses"; I'm sure it always highlight open top previously.

Any idea what 27720/70-72 replaced?  On paper even if not in reality?  Wondering if it was any of 27726/27/36/38 though not sure the timing coincides for them.

Are the open toppers not in winter storage in the top depot at South Shields? They were there last time I looked in.

I'm not someone who normally does posts like this but whoever is driving the E6 out of Sunderland right now and has just drove past around 50 people I hope you get a warning at least. Awful awful crack for all the people waiting.
RE: Stagecoach North East Latest News
Are there any more fleet changes at Walkergate depot? 37312 still in use there for some reason. Not ideal.

Are the last 5 of the Enviro 400H sticking around in Walkergate for now?

Especially when only once an hour on an evening. Not good if on section of route with no alternative 23/E1 or E2 available as an alternative

Yeah agreed, heard a few mention the 24 walking by so guess they went for that instead.

27181 last night (12/02/25) seems to have left Newcastle towards Sunderland. Guessing that is the first 271** to leave Newcastle with 27157/8 27179/80 and all the 272**’s leaving soon as well.

Was wondering why there was a 11 bus to Kenton going through the tunnel coming back from the match last night. That answers it.

As far as we’re aware 27239 won’t be here long! Just til the electrics enter service then they’ll move onwards! Apparently there may be a couple of moves over the next 2 weeks between MMC’s and 272’s
