February or March? Interesting if they’ve taken the Stagecoach nexus contracts! Wonder what will happen to the 18? Maybe GNE?

Says February according to DVLA but I've been told March.

Can't see them taking the 18. Would have been mentioned in these changes. I do wonder how Percy Main are gonna manage these routes. Especially since adding the 356 & 342 surly adds more pvr than current as the 342 would add 3 extra & 356 probs another 2

The 352 is being withdrawn though.

In reality, it's only a +3 PVR. I'm sure they will be fine.

I’d probably say the driver is wrong or mistaking. GCT have been told they have 32, 35, M71, 350/351. No mention of 18 or 335

19 and X46 missing there aswell, which hasn't been announced by GNE either. Be interesting to see who wants them as both are very out of the way for Stagecoach.

Wonder if Arriva, might have gone for the 19. It would certainly make sense for them to get their hands on it since it's heavily competing against the 57/57a around here.

I work for stagecoach we are keeping the 32. GCT can’t guarantee they’ll have enough drivers for the 32 so have had to turn it down. They are still taking the 35 from Stagecoach though.

Q

seen as there is no longer a 41A does this mean the Nexus Secured Service on a Sunday and Evening is operated by GNE as service 340 or 341 and GCT has lost this contract too which interworked with the 342?

not sure if anyone noticed this?

Yea the 341 is now ran by gne on evenings & Sundays
RE: Nexus Tenders - March 2025
Looks like the 335 is staying, there's a variation registered on Vosa by Gateshead Central Taxis.

There's also variations to the 653, and service 350 has been registered from Newcastle to Whitley Bay. Unsure of the routing of the 350.

GCT have also won the W1.
RE: Nexus Tenders - March 2025
Any more registrations/news on the March contracts?

19, 335/351, W1/W2, X46 all GCT?

We know Stagecoach have kept the 18 and 32/32A (awarded to GCT but given back) and regained the evening X78s.

Go North East have kept the 317 and gained the 341/342.

Gateshead Central Taxis have kept the 335/351, lost the 342 and gained the 35 and M71.

Nothing for Arriva unless they have gained the 19 (potentially merged with the 57/57A) or the W1/W2 which I haven't seen registered but I believe have been cancelled by Liberty Coaches.

Liberty Coaches will only have the 58, 417, 434 and Morpeth locals I believe? 58 being the only service operating within Tyne & Wear.

What's changing with the 653? Still GCT? The Stagecoach registeration has been cancelled. Forgot about the 653. Cancellation of the 553 was short lived, but may go in the future if the NHS withdraw the funding. Disappointing the 47 was cancelled when it was going electric. Looking forward to seeing the electric fleet on the 43/44/45.

Just the W1? Liberty Coaches keeping the W2?

Interested to see if GCT keep the 19 or it gets merged with the Arriva 57/57A.

Yes, GCT have retained the 653 contract. The variation might be to incorporate the cancelled Stagecoach journey?

I'm not sure who has won the 19, but it has been cancelled by Gateshead Central Taxis.

They've also cancelled the 351 and then reregistered it, so not sure what is happening with that. Maybe the 19 will be the same.

And yeah, GCT have won the W2. Missed that off my post.

653 has a revised timetable which appears to include the Stagecoach journey. The 0713 from Wallsend is withdrawn and journeys before 0800 will be retimed. A new registration for 19 has been submitted by GCT, PB1099280/203.

RE: Nexus Tenders - March 2025
Are they changing the route of the 19? Says via Killingworth there? I'm glad its not arriva getting it though, GCT generally run it well. The only issue with the 19 is that the timetable at peak times (especially morning) is too tight. It's one of the ways I make my journey anyway.

On Mon-Sat days 19 will be every 30 mins between North Shields and Backworth Park from where there will be an hourly service to/from Cramlington and also an hourly service to/from Killingworth. Sunday will remain North Shields to/from Northumberland Park.

Oh cool! Good to have an improved service. Might interwork with the 335 in Killingworth.

GCT - 19, 35, 335/350/351, 653, M71, W1/W2, (X46?)

GNE - 342

SCNE - 18, 32/32A, X78

Evening/Sunday 54 still with Stagecoach?

Who is operating the evening 342/41A?

Good point, I realised I missed the 341 off and I completely forgot about the 54.

Updated list:

GCT - 19, 35, 335/350/351, 653, M71, W1/W2, (X46?)

GNE - 54, 317, 341, 342

SCNE - 18, 32/32A, X78

I'm not sure if the 342 has been taken on commercially or is still a Nexus contract but split into two services (342 and M71) at Kingston Park? Believe the 41/41A (renumbered 340/341) are commercial routes?

GNE have won the 341/342 from GCT.

GCT have won the 35 and lost the 342 (but will run the M71 between Kingston Park and Westerhope replacing that 342 section)

SCNE have lost the 35, 54 and 653 and gained the X78 back.

Liberty Coaches have lost the W1/W2 and not won anything.

18, 19, 32/32A, 317, 335/351 and 653 have not changed operators.

X46 is the only contract I don't believe has been confirmed now? Possibly retained by GCT.
RE: Nexus Tenders - March 2025
Looks like the current short 19 will extended to Killingworth and interwork with the 335.

The 350 seems to coordinate with the 351 to provide a service every 30 minutes between Shiremoor and Newcastle, the 350 then takes a faster route to Whitley Bay via Monkseaton Front Street.

The timetables are on Traveline for anyone interested.

I really don't understand why they don't just run the whole 351 route if doing that and get rid of the W2. There's absolutely no need for that service as it's all covered by the 351 anyway bar one bus stop at Briardene but that's a very short walk to the main road anyway.

Talk about pissing money down the drain for no reason.
