RE: Nexus Tenders - March 2025
I mean I see the 19 causing a bit of confusion, 1 19 to Killingworth and another 19 to Cramlington, surely 19/19A (or even 20) would have been better, I mean I understand it, but not everyone will, not everyone understands public transport, we all only know in advance because we are members of a forum, better thought really needs given to those who struggle with public transport, people come from all walks of life, do they not get that
Kind Regards

The 19 route in general needs work imo. The long one is fine but the short one literally has no purpose during the day pretty much bar Northumberland Park to Cobalt and there's little demand for employment during the day. Extending it to Killingworth via Backworth isn't the answer either unless they're happy to be funding the 354 as that route is a right basketcase of a route whenever I see it, like you mentioned the other day, and it's now a faster version of it. There's never anyone on at the Western side unless I miss the busy boards.

This is clearly operational since the 335 is in limbo without another service, they'd be better extending that for another 12 minutes imo and running it standalone imo - where someone else can decide. Howdon loop maybe?

Agree, at least if they extended it to Howdon it would provide some unique and useful links.

They could also scrap the Quorum to Killingworth section considering its duplicated by multiple other services.

Yeah can't disagree with that, personally I'd kinda say do something like this using the Silverlink bus link rather going direct from Hadrian Park, would open up links to Silverlink retail park without jumping around dual carriageways and also go through Forest Hall to open their link to Quorum since it's currently inaccessible and they live pretty much right next to it.

Just checked and read through the 350 route so the main parts are

Both follow each other from Newcastle to Holystone Park Francis Way. Then the 351 will do as it does now but 350 will come out of Francis Way and turn right and go to the A19 that way (like the 351 on the evening does)

Then they follow each other into West allotment. 351 will follow its route as now. 350 will turn left and follow the 353 to the bottom of Shiremoor where it will meet the 351 again.

Both follow each other again but the 351 will turn into Earsdon where as the 350 will pass it straight ahead and rejoin at the roundabout

Then from here they split until Whitley

351 will follow the route it does now

350 will follow the route of the 57/57A (not serving Sainsbury's) and just going straight ahead to West Monkseaton metro and then going straight to Whitley Bay via Monkseaton Metro (57/57A route)

There's absolutely no need for that service as it's all covered by the 351 anyway bar one bus stop at Briardene but that's a very short walk to the main road anyway.

Talk about pissing money down the drain for no reason.

Talking about your last sentence.....I agree especially where the 350/351 are concerned. I suspect with the frequency uplift, this could attract passengers and actually make it usable for the newer developments rather than a micky mouse service of no use.

Aye definitely the W2 is just a political route as everything time they want to withdraw it then the local councillors kick off.

Something Nexus needs to get in control of as if franchising comes in and they can't control the councillors and back down every second then there's going to be some absolutely horrific routes turning up.

So with the new timetables now on Traveline, we know all of the contract awards. Nothing for Arriva or Liberty Coaches.

GCT - 19, 35, 335/350/351, 653, M71, W1/W2 and X46

GNE - 54, 317 and 341/342

Stagecoach - 18, 32/32A and X78

Very odd how Nexus have said nothing about their service changes, considering some are quite significant.

The 19 is also getting later services to/from Cramlington, didn’t notice that at first. But no one will know as they’ve never said anything about it.

It's Nexus, are you really surprised? They're communication is horrid at the best of time. Their website has to be by far the worst of any of the PTE's aswell.
RE: Nexus Tenders - March 2025
Also it's being ran by Gateshead Central Taxis what do you expect. Stagecoach Arriva & GNE would have made a big deal about it and detailed it in a way. Nothing will be shown
