Probably for the summer  as a Extra vehicle  as I understand  after 2841 left it kind of left them short
RE: Redcar depot
There's nothing planned for a closure, as far as I'm aware, to make this clear upfront.

But does anyone know if what the future is for Whitby? Obviously working with a local independent isn't a problem but Esk Valley has recently been bought over by GoAhead.

Can't exactly see Arriva and GoAhead wanting to be partners in the long term, for the obvious reasons, due to competition locally nevermind anything else.

Arriva moved out of Esk Valley's yard many years ago - they now work out of the old Coastal & Country depot, which Arriva now own.

Ah that would make sense then, never realised they moved. Never down those parts - didn't even realise that existed, truth to be told.
RE: Redcar depot
Drove past redcar depot yesterday. And noticed 4706 parked up not in service. Drove around seen 4704 being driven in NIS and a random pulsar parked up. Hopefully the evoras are on route. Any confirmation of when and same with the pulsars from Merseyside

Don't think it's been confirmed but they're starting to turn up at Luton and Bootle now so assume they're due very very soon. The Luton ones displacing their older examples to Merseyside which are displacing Pulsars.

Three arrived yesterday which is great to see this much needed investment for the X4 arrive. I’d expect it’ll be a month or so until we see them in service though.

Random question. How did they arrive. Were they driven in or by lowlanders just very curious.

Also judging from the pictures 2 temsa appear to be on death row/ maintenance roads 4704 and 4706 i believe

Driven in by Lowlanders?  I presume that's a typo for low loaders, but here's what passed through MY mind when I saw that phrase!  Smile

Because streetlites where underpowered  for the x4!

Then started to manger issues thank god Redcar don't have them.best year 2023 when all 14 went to Stockton

These volvos will be ten times better in performance
RE: Redcar depot
I think some of the issues was that the X4 was just too demanding for those Wright StreetLites after about five years. Stockton had a similar problem, which resulted in 1550 - 1559 being used more locally & then 10/61 plate Pulsar 2s typically being used for the 5/5A. It did not help that during the summer the X4 was always busy & experienced constant delays, without accounting for the fleet reliability issues at the time either.

With ten Evoras expected, the PVR of the X4 is eight buses, with the 95/323 at Whitby also using a full size bus that should take it to nine. I would suspect they'll then just keep the last Evora as a typical spare between the two Depots & be allocated to just about anything...

The main fleet at Redcar by this stage would then just consist mainly of VDL Pulsar 2s, Gemini 2s (spare for the winter) & Optare Solo SRs (which are ideal for the 81) - with another ten Temsa Avenues able to be withdrawn once the Evoras fully enter service.

1475  could float around  as 1409 replaced 1450 so technically 1475 could be a vehicle that could easy be non depo allocated and just go to Depo to depo when required ?

I'd imagine the whole lot of the Temsa's will be going at the same time. The Evora's at Luton are already going into service which will displace what they're displacing to Liverpool (forgot what it is) which will be displacing the Pulsars out of Merseyside pretty much asap. Have to remember these never ordered for the North East and we're diverted here with Liverpool taking the X4 Streetlites instead

Thanks for that, thought it was. I just knew there was some E200MMC's due from somewhere aswell and wasn't sure whether it was there's.

1475 won’t be floating around at all it’s now based at Stockton to replace 1450 original plan was for 1409 but dunno what’s happening with 1409

I’ve been told that Redcar are losing a solo to Darlington doubt it be 2857 could be one of the others

Actually  what u been told is probably incorrect  why  would Darlington want a odd ball vehicle  there  when there don't have  a few ?

Understand Darlington are expected to receive some new town buses  which as been mentioned on fb  and  few weeks ago e200mmc may be transferred to Arriva Yorkshire

Incorrect - 2841 is due to transfer back to Darlington to operate the 16 when that contract passes from Stagecoach to Arriva at the end of the month. There isn't enough E200s to operate that and the present town network.

Darlington will be gaining the electric vehicles for the town network (bar the 17, which interworks with the 8, and the 18 as any electric vehicle will be unable to fit under the Railway Bridge at Albert Hill) sometime next year - understand it will be 7 full-size singles for the 2 and the remaining examples midibus-size for the rest of the town network.
