RE: Bus incidents

I know it's been mentioned before, I believe with Stagecoach, that they weren't meant to do it, at all, outside bus stations. There's quite a few videos around on moron car driver channels with stand offs with First buses down South aswell, under the same rule.

I know one of the 57A appears to have a similar incident last week aswell (https://bustimes.org/services/57a-cramli.../807126073) - luckily he was awake as that would've been a nasty mistake, hasn't been an incident down there for awhile either.

There was Stagecoach operated, Oxford secured service that I was on, that reversed in a public car park as part of its route.
Somewhere around Ducklington.

Wouldnt have been that long ago in the grand scheme of things either.

RE: Bus incidents
We caught the 32 from Houghton to Hetton, once, and that had a point where it went to a bus stop in a housing estate then had to turn into a cul-de-sac and reverse out again so it could double back on itself. Looking at the map on bustimes, I'm not sure that it was meant to, mind.

God knows, guess it's just varies by area as it definitely examples of it existing; especially with Firstbus as there's loads of drivers confirming it all over the place on the net. Insurance reasons no doubt.
RE: Bus incidents
From my experience, GNE and Arriva, I don't recall it being a specific rule except that it should be avoided at all costs. If you did it and had a bump, manager's would ask why you did it and you would get a blameworthy.

The estate before you got to Hetton on the 79a (from Houghton) used to be a nightmare with parked cars and we regularly had to reverse out of there back to the main road (lack of space to turn around). Contact control, advise the issue and then they ask you to reverse out.

I'm sure the union had a stance of refuse to do it then if it does go wrong you can't get wrong.

I think that's probably it.

I'd forgotten about the access road between Wear Ind Est and Harraton.
Often been on the 2 when it has needed to reverse there.

I'd also forgotten about how (according to BFK - an insider from Deptford), Deptford wouldn't allocate a certain Renown to that route, due to its reverse function being knackered.

RE: Bus incidents
Arriva 7601 was in an incident with a pedestrian outside the Five Swans in Newcastle this afternoon. Thankfully it appeared the incident wasn't too serious and emergency services dealt with things quickly. Hopefully the casualty and driver both are ok.
RE: Bus incidents
X10 took some stupid diversions shoukd have went

Heworth > A195 > A194(M), A182 then up Hetton to Dalton Park.

Especially cos one went into NCL 2 hours late
RE: Bus incidents
X24 was seen diverting via Herrington Birmingham, the 1107 from Sunderland heading to Newcastle 1154 at Herrington.

The X10 is a difficult one as that means passengers at Testos are omitted and it's not easy trying to get to Heworth from Testos

Except X34 doesn't stop at Heworth nor Testos.   Lost count of the amount of times I've had to go back n forth due to lack of info esp early on a morning when social media not updated and years back when social media didn't or hardly existed.   It's a bit tough when the walk from my house to the X10 stop is 45 minutes
