Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - May 2014
Nothing of note today apart from the argument in Boro with two folks trying to get a four wheel walker onto a crowded 4659. Buggy in the disabled space, others with assorted trolleys on the front seats. Give the Stockton lad driving a mention for his patience (1115 5 ex MBS)
RE: Arriva North East - Latest
1763 was seen today on suspended tow heading back to Blyth depot, after sustaining accident damage to the offside rear.

1766's move is ahead of the 168 moving across to Belmont from Classic.

Further PVR allocation changes are as followed:
Stockton
28 and 29 swap over - 28 is now allocated Prestiges and 29 Cadets

Ashington
35 allocation is now split - 3 workings for B10BLEs (those to be upgraded to Streetlites later in the year), and 3 for DAF DB250
X22 now down for 4 deckers (DAF DB250) and 2 singles (B10BLEs)

Durham
6/42 remains interworking (no mention of a 42 board) - 10 boards are allocated Pulsars while 3 are down to be allocated DAF DB250s

Jesmond
No chance

Redcar
Change to X3 and 81 - 2 81 boards now down as OmniCity worked while 3 X3 boards are allocated Pulsars

I wonder how many other members of this forum, are becoming tired of your "Perpetual Whinging" Mr robisdave15.

As is 1651.

Edit: Not to mention they're still hanging on to 2 Enviro 400s that they don't need, and should have entered refurbishment weeks ago!

RE: Arriva North East - Latest
One must assume that once the Streetlites arrive at Redcar to work the X3/X4 duties then the present Pulsars will be used elsewhere and then the likes of 1743 etc can finally be withdrawn? What will happen then to the Ommis based there? I've read that these are due to be 're-furbished, just hope we ain't gonna lose them?

Unless the cascade plans have changed recently, then the Streetlites will obviously be on X3/X4 full time and then 6 Volvo B10BLEs are due to arrive from Northumbria (mix of Jesmond/Ashington I think) - this should see off all of the R-COO's and 1638, the older mini Darts (1737, 1743 etc), and the Prestiges/ALX300s. The Scania Omnicities based at Redcar are down for Max refurbishment, and will then be allocated to Darlington.

Cheers.

NEB's fleet lists have been updated accordingly (thankfully it was only a 15-minute job). Smile
RE: Arriva North East - Latest
So Scott, that looks like the makings of a decent fleet down there? A shame about the Ommis mind but I have friends in Darlo so guess I'll see them on the X66 unless you know something about that?

Yeah I'm not sure whether they'll be branded or just generic Max branding and common user fleet between X66 and X26/X27. Obviously they'll require 12 Omnicities to work this (5 & 6 & 1 spare) - 4643-51 and 4655/6/7 will be refurbished for this. That obviously leaves the 4 Stockton based Scanias - I think these will just get a standard refurbishment, along with 4660-4 for the 685.

Where will the Stockton Scanias go?

They're now not leaving Stockton.

More than likely.
Not sure what happens to 4653, as I can see 4660-4 being dedicated to the 685. Can't see Durham just keeping one so I think it may end up at Stockton too.

RE: Arriva North East - Latest
Afraid I still can't get my head round the allocations for our x93? Redcar currently have 8 deckers, in theory, available yet we've got Temsa 4720 deployed on what will be the 1025 trip ex MBS, a trip which I thought, with it being a Bank Holiday, could well be busy and warrant a decker? On the flip side of this 20 does seem to be in good fettle.
RE: Arriva North East - Latest
Don't know anything about these Volvo B10BLE's that are coming down to Redcar, oother than what I've read on here? They sound like a decent machine but don't think they are tacho fitted?
RE: Arriva North East - Latest
Looking as though the change to running the Whitby services down the coast (x4/4) has been a masterstroke? Like Tyresmoke I'll be interested to see/read how things work out when the season gets going and if we get a good summer?
RE: Arriva North East - Latest
(02 May 2014, 10:07 am)robisdave15 wrote Thanks David. Never ridden them, just wonder if they'd be good on our x93?
They've got plenty of power and seem pretty reliable and they are used often on Sunday X18's (4513+15)
RE: Arriva North East - Latest
Sorry if this has been asked previously but I'm just curious as to what extent the omnicitys are being refurbished to? Will they be getting the cream grab poles and same flooring and seat fabric as the pulsars, or is it just more of a general tart up of the interior

4643-51/5-7 are to be refurbished to 'Max' specification with leather seats. 4660-2/4 will be done to standard specification with the same interior as the Pulsars. What will happen to 4652-4/8/9/63 is unknown at present.
