There is quite bad congestion in Newcastle today so i wouldnt blame it on the bus this time Tongue

9131 was coming from Bishop Auckland, Heading for Newcastle and i'll blame it on Arriva Congestion in Durham Bus Station, which been mentioned elsewhere on the Forum this week.
RE: Go North East - Latest
Boarded 9131 on the 1409 dep from Durham, on arrival at Chester he stood a while then pulled in at the front of Chester depot for a top up of the blue additive they use, arrival at Gateshead was approx 1455

I've already said it's good, just what bus destination displays should be like. None of this scrolling nonsense.

The 0829 from Gateshead, using a "Waggonway" branded Scania L94UB/Wright Solar.

Agree, much prefer the London/Lothian style

Just looked at my photos - the 0809 from Gateshead is also operated by a "Lambton Worm" branded Versa.

Both can be substituted by red spares though, so keep your fingers crossed.

I'll have a look out one day next week. I think most of Monday will be spent trying to get a good shot of 9131 though. Smile

9131 is due at Gateshead at 0805 towards Bishop on weekdays - which helps! Tongue

I'd say Transport for London are phasing that style out though? New Bus for London doesn't have it, and neither do Gemini 2's for example, whereas the original Geminis and ALX400s for example do.

I personally dislike it - I have no idea where to look.
On the first time I went up to Edinburgh, I had absolutely no idea which place was the terminus, because there's just random names dotted everywhere.

Aye, I find them a bit confusing if I'm honest. I think the via. strip that GNE and Arriva for example have on their blinds works well, as you can see roughly what the route is before the bus stops.

It's housed at Crook, and as Crook is not operational on a Sunday, I'd doubt it.

Although I noted it on the Rare & Odd Workings thread yesterday as covering for a branded vehicle on the "Prince Bishops", it should be noted here for clarification that former "MetroLINK" branded Scania L94UB/Wright Solar 4962 (NL52 WVT) has been transferred from Washington to Deptford - which I expect is to cover Deptford's loss of MPD 544.
Similar examples 4961, 4963 and 4964 all remain at Washington.

You could go to Crook for a photo? I believe there's an Arriva service that goes by Weardale's depot - I'll have a look for it.

Arriva's 1, 1B, 46 and X1 go through Crook. There's also Weardale's 101 and once-per-day Arriva 46 to Stanhope Depot.

(27 Jun 2014, 4:42 pm)Dan wrote That would be great, but the reason why GNE have got it on trial is to test suitability for the routes which are down to receive investment this year...

On another note, VDL SB120/Wright Merit 8266 has been given a fresh coat of white paint at Saltmeadows ready for branding into its new livery.

I think it is due at Durham at 11:06, not 100%, but I got off it about 10 am in Durham on it's up to Bishop

I caught it up to Bishop. Have recently managed to get photos of an "Angel" B5LH with it as well as a "Pronto" B7TL.

I used to get the 700 down to Roker Beach with the dog, simply because it was quiet (next to nobody on it) and he'd be less excited.

My Westy, Alfie, although he's just a puppy and isn't used to buses much, absolutely loves a ride into Chester on the 78A then a walk back down (even though I have to carry him after about half way!) Smile

I hope it gets the passengers needed, i would imagine it will packed to brim on the Sunday of the airshow.

Can any bigger buses be used on it's full route, as i know the 701 uses just part of the route?

Edit: Noticed there's a mistake on the Airshow leaflet... it has the 26/26A - which of course is now the 29/29A.

The 700 isn't on it to

Edit again: (Sorry!) - When the X35 does its new late night run at 2110 towards Peterlee from Doxford International, will a Fast Cats Scania be used or will a Versa etc?

Versas in the past have often substituted for the Solos, so they can definitely use midi-sized vehicles. Wouldn't like to put anything bigger on mind - Sunniside is quite tight.

I'd imagine, given that it's terminating at Peterlee, that a Peterlee vehicle will be used? Most likely a Wear Tees Xpress Merc?

If GNE do some advertising for the 700 running on a Sunday then i think it would do well, the Airshow weekend mainly.

I didn't even think about where it would based, does Peterlee do any other late runs?
